ScotRail increase services for travelling Scotland fans
In recent years, the tensions between match-going fans and national travel companies, particularly regarding train services, have been growing. Supporters have had to contend with extortionate prices, delays, cancellations and a lack of running trains altogether.
It is therefore refreshing to see ScotRail supporting Scotland fans in this manner. Speaking ahead of the match between the Tartan Army and Finland, the company's Customer Operations Director, Phil Campbell said: “We’re looking forward to helping fans travel by train to watch the Scotland men’s national team play Finland at Hampden on Friday night.
“We’re adding more services and extra carriages to trains between Glasgow Central and Mount Florida to help supporters travel to and from the match, and we’ll have additional staff on hand to help you.”
Supporters have also been encouraged to purchase their tickets ahead of time to reduce queues after the game, as the nearest station to Hampden Park, Mount Florida, can only be accessed via one road from the ground.

This game will be the final chance Scotland fans have to cheer their side on before the Tartan Army makes their way to Germany. They will face the hosts on June 14, in what will be the opening game of the tournament and a once-in-a-lifetime moment for many of the 10,000 Scots in attendance.
With that date fast approaching, it is an exciting time for us all, and ScotRail is doing its bit to ensure the weeks leading up to that moment are as stress-free as possible.
