Scotland are set to play in their first World Cup since 1998 this summer, and ever since securing qualification at the end of 2025, fans have been counting down the days until the tournament begins on 11 June.
The Tartan Army are expected to be extremely well represented in the USA, Mexico, and Canada this summer, as Steve Clarke's men look to go one better than any other Scotland side in history by qualifying for the knockout stages.
If you are one of the many thousands of Scotland fans making the trip across the Atlantic this summer, our fan guide below has all the information you need to ensure you make the most of the trip.
Scotland World Cup stadiums
Scotland fans will not be getting ahead of themselves, particularly after being drawn in a group alongside Brazil and Morocco. Therefore, for now, let's focus on the stadiums they are guaranteed to visit during the group stages of the World Cup.
Gillette Stadium
Scotland's first group match will be against Haiti at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The stadium isn't one of the biggest or most modern at the World Cup, but the Tartan Army are expected to make their presence known. Of Scotland's three group matches, this is the one they have to win.
Scotland will remain in Foxborough for their second group match, too, when they take on Morocco on 19 June. With Brazil expected to win the group, this match could turn out to be the decider for second position and guaranteed qualification for the knockout stages.
Hard Rock Stadium
Scotland's final group stage match will be against Brazil at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on 24 June. This is one of the grandest stadiums in the USA and has hosted several major events over the years, including the Super Bowl. How the Scots cope with the soaring summer temperatures in South Florida is another matter altogether.

Driving
Depending on how you look at it, Scotland fans are fortunate that two of their three group stage matches are being played at the same stadium. This means for the first week of the tournament, they can set up base in Foxborough.
For fans with tickets to all three matches, the journey from Foxborough to Miami is one to consider. The good news is that both cities are on the east coast of the USA; however, the bad news is that they are still around 2,500km apart.
If you are in a big group, then an American-style road trip down the East Coast between games two and three (five-day gap) has the potential to be a trip of a lifetime. You will pass through several tourist hot spots, including New York, Philadelphia, Washington and Orlando, on the way down from Foxborough, making it a manageable journey if you make several stops.
The total drive time is around 23 hours, but if you break this into five days, it works out at around 4.5 hours of driving per day.
Flying
If you decide that a road trip down the East Coast isn't for you, then the quickest way to get from Foxborough to Miami is to fly.
- Boston Logan Airport – 30 miles from Gillette Stadium
- Miami International Airport – 18 miles from the Hard Rock Stadium.
There are direct flights available from Boston Logan to Miami International, and the total flight time is around 3.5 hours, which illustrates just how big the distance is between the two cities. There are regular direct flights between the two airports every day.
Where to stay
If you have tickets for all of Scotland's matches at the tournament, then basing yourself near the Gillette Stadium makes the most logical sense. The biggest city nearby is Boston, which has everything Scotland fans will need from fan zones and pubs to restaurants and hotels.
If you only have tickets for the match at the Hard Rock Stadium, then basing yourself in South Florida is the best option. Miami itself is obviously a brilliant place to stay if you are looking to party, while Orlando is also an option if you are going over with your family.
Hotel prices have gone through the roof across the USA, so finding somewhere cheap isn't going to be easy. Consider hostels and/or apartments if you want a cheaper alternative to hotels.

Knockout stages
Scotland have never made it to the knockout stages of a World Cup before, so it's understandable that fans aren't getting ahead of themselves. However, for those who do want to plan ahead, here is their potential route to the final on July 19 if they win their group.
- Round of 32: June 29- NRG Stadium, Houston
- Round of 16: July 5 – MetLife Stadium, New Jersey
- Quarter-final: July 11 – Hard Rock Stadium, Miami
- Semi-final: July 15 – Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta
- Final: July 19 – MetLife Stadium, New Jersey
If they finish as group runners-up, their route will be as follows:
- Round of 32: June 29 – Estadio BBVA, Guadalupe
- Round of 16: July 4 – NRG Stadium, Houston
- Quarter-final: July 9 – Gillette Stadium, Foxborough
- Semi-final: July 14 – AT&T Stadium, Dallas
- Final: July 19 – MetLife Stadium, New Jersey
Unless you can find free cancellation hotels or apartments, we wouldn't recommend booking any accommodation for the knockout stages until it is confirmed where Scotland will be playing and when.
