Fears are reportedly growing in Spain that the country could lose the right to host the 2030 World Cup final amid external political pressure.
Spanish officials are said to be increasingly concerned that Morocco could instead land the showpiece fixture, with Donald Trump reportedly pushing for the final to be staged there.
Fears grow in Spain over losing 2030 World Cup final bid
The venue for the 2030 World Cup final remains undecided, despite Spain, Portugal and Morocco preparing to jointly host the tournament.
According to Spanish sports radio programme El Partidazo de COPE, figures within the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) are becoming increasingly worried that Morocco could win the race to stage the final.
The report claims US President Donald Trump is pushing “very clearly” for Morocco to host the fixture, viewing the North African country as an important ally of the United States.

Madrid and Casablanca are also reportedly competing to host the tournament's International Press Centre, with the Spanish capital now attempting to link the two decisions.
Madrid City Council's reported stance is that it only wants to become the World Cup's international media base if the final itself is also staged in the city.
The latest claims add another layer of intrigue to the battle to host the biggest match of the 2030 tournament, with Spain facing increasing competition from Morocco and its proposed new Grand Stade Hassan II.
FGG says: Political influence must stay out of the 2030 World Cup
Coming soon after the recent controversy surrounding the suspension of Folarin Balogun's red card, reports of further political influence around major footballing decisions are hardly a welcome development.
The venue for a World Cup final should be decided on sporting, logistical and organisational grounds rather than the personal relationships or preferences of politicians.
Whether the 2030 finale ends up in Spain or Morocco, football must be allowed to make that decision without political pressure shaping the outcome.
