Sunderland full-back Trai Hume has waxed lyrical about the fans at the Stadium of Light after the Black Cats were able to hold Manchester City to a draw on Thursday night.
That result for Sunderland means that they are now ten unbeaten at home in the Premier League and are well on track to survive relegation after only being promoted via the playoffs at the end of last season.
While the Black Cats have been okay on the road, it is their performances at the Stadium of Light that have stood out all season, and they were well worthy of their point on Thursday, and will perhaps feel that they could and should have won it.
Hume praises Sunderland supporters
Regardless of what Sunderland could or should have ended up with on Thursday, one thing that is rarely left to chance in the north east is the noise levels at the Stadium of Light.
Speaking after the match, Hume was full of praise for the club's supporters, saying:
“We know how good a side they are. We played them a couple of weeks ago, and we were a bit conservative. At our place, it’s a completely different game with the fans behind you.
“It’s never in doubt how good the fans are. They are always going to push us. They are with us every step of the way, so it’s great to keep the unbeaten run going.”
'Whenever we play at home, we want to take the game to the opposition.'

Hume echoes his captain's thoughts
It isn't the first time this season that Sunderland fans have been praised for the noise they bring to matches by members of the playing squad.
Just a few weeks ago, Granit Xhaka was also full of praise for them, saying that the atmosphere at the Stadium of Light is ‘in the top three in my career', claiming that the stadium is ‘never quiet' even when they find themselves trailing in matches.
FGG says: A brilliant addition to the Premier League
By the time Sunderland were relegated to the Championship back in 2017, the support at the Stadium of Light had certainly tapered off. However, the nine-year absence has clearly made supporters more appreciative of being back in the big time, and they are making every minute count so far.
