Unai Emery has recently welcomed plans to expand Aston Villa’s stadium, as the club continues to push forward with a major redevelopment of Villa Park.

Aston Villa have announced an accelerated timeline for major redevelopment for the North Stand at Villa Park

During the past week, Aston Villa have announced plans to complete the revamp of their North Stand by the summer of 2027.

The redevelopment will increase the capacity of their iconic Villa Park to more than 50,000 a year ahead of schedule.

Of course, it was a big talking point for Unai Emery in his press conferences over the past few days, and he has had his say.

The Spanish boss claimed bigger attendances will help boost revenues and that he is in a “good balance” about how his side are growing.

“The club is always working forward, trying to be demanding about how we can improve things,” he said. “For example, the stadium works and we are trying to add more supporters inside Villa Park.

“This is something very important because if we can have 50,000 supporters every match, I think it is going to be very important. We can grow from it as well.”

Alongside the stadium developments, Aston Villa have also built new sleeping accommodation at Bodymoor Heath, designed to help players recover more effectively after late returns from European and domestic fixtures.

FGG says: Increased capacity can only be a good thing for the club

At the moment, it feels as if Aston Villa are very much moving in the right direction on and off the pitch.

The Villans currently sit fourth in the Premier League table and are in a strong position to secure Champions League football next season, while also preparing for a Europa League semi-final against English rivals Nottingham Forest.

With Villa Park set to host bigger and more high-profile matches in the coming years, demand for tickets is only expected to rise further.

With that in mind, the increased capacity feels like a timely and important step in the club’s continued evolution.
