England fans wasted little time making the most of their extra day in Atlanta after booking their place in the 2026 World Cup Round of 16.

Having watched the Three Lions defeat DR Congo in dramatic style, many supporters headed to nearby Truist Park for an evening of baseball – and quickly stole the show.

England fans headed to Atlanta Braves game after Round of 32 win

England supporters swapped football for baseball on Wednesday night as they descended on Truist Park to watch the Atlanta Braves just a few hours after Thomas Tuchel's side defeated DR Congo 2-1 at the nearby Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Footage shared on social media showed a large group of Three Lions fans hilariously adopting Braves outfielder Michael Harris II as their new favourite player, chanting his name throughout the game and even adapting famous England football songs in his honour.

Supporters could be heard singing “Walking in a Harris Wonderland” as well as weaving the 24-year-old into England's iconic “It's Coming Home” chants whenever he came to the plate.

Harris appeared to enjoy the unexpected backing from the travelling supporters, later throwing a baseball into the crowd of England fans after driving in a run during Atlanta's 5-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.

The visit came after Free Lions had arranged discounted tickets for England supporters, allowing many to enjoy an exciting sporting double-header following the World Cup Round of 32 clash.

It is a brilliant example of England supporters making the most of the unique experience a North American World Cup offers.

Rather than heading straight back to hotels or bars after the win over DR Congo, hundreds embraced another of Atlanta's biggest sporting attractions and even managed to create a memorable moment for an unsuspecting baseball star.

It summed up the festival atmosphere surrounding the tournament and showed how football fans have added colour well beyond the stadiums themselves.
