Venezia's new home is beginning to emerge from the ground, with stunning footage showing the scale of progress being made on the project.
The Italian club are preparing for a historic final season at the Pier Luigi Penzo before leaving their unique island home and moving to a new mainland stadium in 2027.
New Venezia stadium takes shape
Fresh footage from Costruzioni Bordignon has provided a striking look at the progress being made on Venezia's new 18,500-capacity stadium.
The venue forms a central part of the wider Bosco dello Sport development and is being built on the mainland, bringing together professional sport, community facilities and green public spaces in one major complex.
Construction officially began in October 2025, and the latest footage shows the stadium's structure beginning to take shape, with work progressing towards its planned completion in 2027.
Designed by Maffeis Engineering and Populous, the stadium takes inspiration from the waves of the Venetian lagoon.
A seating bowl has been designed to provide strong sightlines and a close connection to the pitch, while the exterior will feature a lightweight façade formed by vertical elements.
The initial capacity will be 18,500, with the potential to expand the venue to 25,000 for larger events. Plans for the wider development also include sports facilities, community areas and spaces capable of hosting cultural events and concerts.
Venezia's move will bring an end to an extraordinary chapter at the Pier Luigi Penzo, one of football's most distinctive grounds and a stadium accessible by boat from central Venice.
FGG says: Venezia stadium progress brings excitement and sadness in equal measure
The latest footage is an exciting glimpse of Venezia's future, with the scale of their new home becoming increasingly clear as construction gathers pace.
However, leaving the Pier Luigi Penzo will inevitably be a sad moment given its history and genuinely unique setting.
The new stadium should give Venezia the modern facilities and greater capacity needed to grow, but supporters will want to make the most of every remaining game at their iconic island home before the move to the mainland.
