“We’re a laughing stock!” – Man Utd fans planning major protest against “toxic” club

Manchester United have been protesting against the Glazer Family since 2005, but for the first time since Sir Jim Ratcliffe purchased a minority stake in the club, supporters are planning a new protest and the INEOS head honcho hasn't escaped the wrath.

So far, INEOS haven't exactly helped take the club back to the big time. In fact, during their first full season in charge of football operations at the club, Manchester United finished in 15th position in the Premier League table and failed to qualify for Europe for the first time since 2014.

Man Utd fans announce latest protest

The next protest being staged by Manchester United supporters has been pencilled in for the Fulham game at Old Trafford on 1 February.

Over the years, several different fan groups have organised Man Utd protests, but in recent times, efforts have been organised by ‘The 1958'.

Following the sacking of Ruben Amorim, the fan group released a statement confirming that a protest will take place before the Fulham game. A spokesperson for the group said:

“It has been an extraordinary and deeply troubling few days at Manchester United. On the pitch, we are watching mediocre performances from an average team drifting without identity, direction, or ambition. Off it, the chaos is even worse.”

The protest is about more than just performance on the pitch. There is also dissatisfaction in the stands at Old Trafford about rising ticket prices. The group explained:

“Manchester United is 150 years old. That proud history, built by generations of supporters, must be protected. If we do not act now, the club we pass on will be unrecognisable, stripped of its culture, its soul, and its people. We must fight for our club. We must fight for fan culture before it is too late.”

FGG says: INEOS still deserve more time

It's too early to start pointing fingers at INEOS when it comes to on-field performances at Manchester United. Yes, they have got two major managerial decisions wrong so far, but they are investing money into the club and doing far more good than the Glazer Family have managed in 20 years.
