Russell Martin came under intense pressure from Leicester City supporters this weekend after the Foxes suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Oxford United at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester were comfortably beaten by Aaron Ramsey’s side on Saturday, with Mark Harris scoring twice before Mo Missanga and Jamie McDonnell completed Oxford’s rout.
The result marked Leicester’s second League One defeat of the season and their heaviest loss in England’s third tier. More concerning for the home support, however, was the manner of the performance.
Russell Martin faces the wrath of Leicester supporters
Martin’s possession-based approach is not going down well in Leicester, which should hardly come as a surprise considering the club's supporters were happy when Enzo Maresca was poached by Chelsea.
Saturday marked the day when Leicester fans gave up on the Martin project. After falling 1-0 behind before half-time, sections of the home crowd turned on the manager, chanting: “Russell Martin, your football is s***.”

Oxford supporters later joined in with chants of “You’re getting sacked in the morning”, which were subsequently echoed by sections of the Leicester support.
Large numbers of Leicester fans also left the King Power Stadium after Oxford scored their third goal in the 60th minute, underlining the growing frustration surrounding Martin’s tenure.
The Leicester boss admitted afterwards that his side had simply not been good enough.
“We were so soft today. We conceded such poor goals. We didn’t give ourselves a chance in the game. We get caught on the transition chasing the game so many times. That’s maybe my fault; it probably is.”
“We have to be so much better. It’s a real wake-up call. To lose here by that scoreline is not acceptable and we have to be better.”
FGG says: A change feels unavoidable
We may only be a month into the new season, but sometimes it is just blindingly obvious that something isn't quite right, and that is the case with Martin and Leicester City. The Foxes may feel that if they change managers now, they are still well in the race for promotion.
