After five more rounds of League One fixtures in September, the third tier is starting to take shape.
For many fans of League One clubs, hundreds of miles have already been clocked on away days, with the league evenly split between northern and southern clubs, meaning short away days are going to be relatively rare this season.
Read on as Football Ground Guide takes a look at which League One fans travelled the furthest in September 2026, using straight-line distances from stadium to stadium.
Plymouth fans travelled the furthest in September
Unsurprisingly, Plymouth fans have travelled the furthest in League One so far, a trend that will continue throughout the season. In September, the Green Army have travelled just shy of 1,000 miles with trips to Blackpool, Leicester and Doncaster.
The trip to Blackpool was a 642-mile round trip for Plymouth supporters, but that won't be the furthest they travel this season. The away match against Bradford City, which is scheduled for February 2027, is a 649-mile round trip,
In second place are Blackpool supporters, who clocked 370 miles to watch their team take on Reading and Barnsley in September.
Finally, in third place are AFC Wimbledon supporters who travelled 250 miles in September to see their side take on Bromley, Cambridge and Burton Albion. If any of those away fixtures had been in the north of England, they could have pipped Blackpool to second.

Luton fans had the shortest September trips
At the opposite end of the scale, Luton Town fans had the shortest travel time in September, having only played one away match against Stevenage. That was a round trip of just 40 miles, meaning it was a cheap, quiet month for matchgoing Luton supporters.
October is set to be a busier month for the travelling Hatters as they face away trips to Colchester, Wymbombe, Milton Keynes and Peterborough.
Another set of fans that enjoyed a quiet September in terms of travelling were Wigan supporters, who also only had one away day last month, against Sheffield Wednesday. The total distance between Wigan and Sheffield is around 45miles.
