The signing of Wilson Isidor at the beginning of the 2024/25 season was a pivotal one for Sunderland in their pursuit of a return to the Premier League.

During that season, the Frenchman played a pivotal role in the Black Cats' promotion campaign, hitting double digits in the Championship regular season before netting an important goal in their playoff semi-final first leg against Coventry.

Although he didn't exactly set the world on fire during his first season at the club, he has looked every inch a Premier League player during the club's first season back in the top flight since 2016/17.

The fans love him, too, which is how he earned his very own Sunderland chant during his debut campaign.

Wilson Isidor chant, lyrics and tune

The Wilson Isidor chant is sung to the tune of ‘Push it' by Salt-N-Pepa. It's the same tune that Arsenal fans use for their Viktor Gyokeres chant. The lyrics are as follows:

He came from Russia,

He started out in France,

He came to Sunderland,

To make he makems dance,

When he gets the ball,

You know he's gonna score,

His name is Wilson, Wilson Isidor

They say never fall in love with a loan player, but Sunderland fans did exactly that as the Wilson Isidor chant was created during the early stages of the player's Sunderland career. The striker was initially only signed on a loan deal, which the Black Cats made permanent in the January window.

The tune used for this football chant has become increasingly popular in recent seasons, to the point now where you will hear it being sung in the stands at most English football stadiums every weekend.

The Isidor version focuses on the player's career path, referencing his stints in Russia and France before making Sunderland his home in the summer of 2024.

FGG says: A testament to the player

The fact that Sunderland fans were prepared to create a chant as lengthy for this for a player who, at the time of its creation, was only two months into a loan deal is a testament to Wilson Isidor. Yes, his goalscoring exploits always help, but he has bought into the Sunderland culture from the minute he walked through the doors, and that matters as much to fans as anything else.
