Chris Wood had the season of his career for Nottingham Forest during the 2024/25 season, scoring 20 Premier League goals for the Reds as they finished inside the top seven.
The air of inevitability around Wood and his goal-scoring during that special season saw the Forest faithful perform a complete U-turn on their perception of him.
When the New Zealander signed for the club from Newcastle in January 2024, it wasn't a signing that filled the Forest faithful with much excitement, but how things have changed since then.
When it became clear that Wood's form was more than just a purple patch, he received his own chant from the Nottingham Forest fans.
For all the key information on the Chris Wood chant, including the lyrics and tune, we have you covered below.
Chris Wood chant, lyrics and tune
The Chris Wood chant is sung to the most popular football chant around at the moment – the ‘_____ again ole ole' chant. Nottingham Forest's version of the chant is simply:
Chris Wood again, Ole Ole
Chris Wood again, Ole Ole
Chris Wood again,
Chris Wood again,
Chris Wood again, Ole Ole
Chris Wood chant background
The Chris Wood chant is certainly an appropriate one for the player, particularly if he continues to score goals at the same rate he managed during the 2024/25 season.
The song is typically belted out by fans at the City Ground and in Nottingham Forest away ends shortly after Wood has found the back of the net. It can be sung at other times, but it only really makes sense to sing it during a match in which Wood has scored, due to the ‘again' reference in the chant.
Although this is the most popular Chris Wood chant in circulation today, Nottingham Forest do also occasionally sing ‘Chris Wood's on fire, your defence is terrified' to the tune of ‘Freed from Desire' by Gala.

FGG says: More originality needed
The fact that Nottingham Forest's two songs for Chris Wood are the ‘____ again ole ole' chant and ‘Freed from Desire' sums up how unoriginal football chants are getting. It feels like there is now a bulk of teams in the Premier League and EFL who all have identical songbooks. Maybe Forest fans can prove this theory wrong in the next year by creating a new chant for their number 11.
