Arsenal fans Kai Havertz chant
Since the beginning of the 2022/23 season, Arsenal fans have made an effort to make more noise both at the Emirates Stadium and away from home. While they have always had good away support, the Emirates has frequently been likened to a library and a freshen-up of their songbook has done wonders.
That season, the Saliba song (to the tune of Tequila) went viral while they also started belting out “North London Forever” before home matches. Last season, they have aired a new gem – this time about ex-Chelsea man, Kai Havertz. The song is to the tune of Waka Waka by Shakira.

Tsamina mina, eh, eh,
Waka waka, eh, eh,
£60 million down the drain,
Kai Havertz scores again

Bristol City – Alex Scott
Bristol City have been stuck in the Championship for nearly a decade now so to cheer themselves up, their supporters created one of the best football chants in recent years for Alex Scott. Although Scott has now joined Bournemouth, the song was heard throughout the 2022/23 season at Ashton Gate and may even now get an airing at the Vitality Stadium.
Bristol City Alex Scott chant lyrics
To the tune of “Logical Song” by Supertramp, the Alex Scott song lyrics are:
Oh his name's Alex Scott and he is so wonderful,
When he gets the ball oh he's beautiful,
Magical,
When he runs down the wing, he's as fast as lightning,
It's frightening,
And he makes all the City sing,
Du du du du (Tune of the chorus)

Crystal Palace – Jordan Ayew
Jordan Ayew is one of those footballers who has a handy surname when it comes to creating football songs. “Ayew” rhymes with plenty of words which makes it quite easy to blend his name into catchy hits.
The centre-forward has had plenty of chants written and sung about him over the years, despite him not exactly being the best player in the Premier League, but Crystal Palace's latest effort tops the lot.
Crystal Palace Jordan Ayew chant lyrics
To the tune of “Teardrops” by Womack and Womack, the lyrics are:
Cruyff turns against West Ham, reminds me of Jordan Ayew,
Last minute at the Amex, when Big Ben put him through,
Hodgson made him a baller, now he's running rings around you,
Jordan Ayew, Jordan Ayew!
Without Jordan Ayew…..😁 pic.twitter.com/yFekE91HZy

Man City – I'll follow you everywhere
When Manchester City were on the charge to a famous treble last season, the Blues faithful conjured up a catchy song that was heard every time they played in the run-in. City fans have made a habit of “stealing” songs from other clubs over the years and while some Manchester United fans may claim to have created a similar song to this one a few years ago, City are certainly the first to make it go viral.
Manchester City fans Fleetwood Mac chant lyrics
To the tune of “Everywhere” by Fleetwood Mac, the song goes like this:
“Can you hear me calling, calling your name,
We're Man City and we're on the p*ss again,
Somethings happening, happening to me,
I've spent all my money on drugs and City,
Awooooooo, I wanna follow you everywhere

Newcastle – Dan Burn
Often, the best songs are reserved for players who aren't necessarily considered to be the “best”. Think Man Utd's Anderson chant from the late 2000s to the tune of Agadoo and Liverpool's for Maxi Rodriguez to the tune of Heartbeat. Newcastle have saved a simple, but hilarious, song for local lad Dan Burn who signed for the club in in 2022.
Newcastle United's Dan Burn chant lyrics
To the tune of “Pretty Green Eyes” by Ultrabeat, the lyrics are quite simply:
He's from Blyyyyyyyyyth,
You'll never ever beat Dan Burn,
He's from Blyyyyyyyyyth,
You'll never ever beat Dan Burn

Ed Sheeran and Ipswich Town

— Ed Sheeran HQ (@edsheeran) May 9, 2024
Regardless of what team you support in the English football pyramid, one of, if not the story of last season was the incredible back-to-back promotion achieved by Ipswich Town in the 2023/24 campaign.
It was a truly astonishing feat, and understandably, had the entire city and their supporters in a frenzy. Every club has fans, but not every club has fans as iconic and known globally as Ed Sheeran. The chant itself is perhaps not the most unique, but being sung by an artist the calibre of Ed Sheeran makes it all the sweeter.
The lyrics are as follows:
“We've got super Kieran McKenna,
He knows exactly what we need,
Wolfy at the back,
Ladapo in attack,
Town are gonna win the f****** league.”
Leicester City – Fatawu Issahaku

Another chant from the Championship during the 2023/24 season was Leicester City's upbeat, catchy tune that hails forward Fatawu Issahaku. Sung to the tune of the famous ABBA hit ‘Voulez-Vous', the song began to hit the terraces after the winger enjoyed a successful loan spell and helped fire the Foxes to the Championship title.
The lyrics are as follows:
“FATAWUU,
Abdul, Running down the wing,
Abdul, Hear the Leicester sing
Abdul, Leicester's going straight back up.”
Aston Villa – ‘The Champions League awaits for me'
Thank goodness we weren’t counting on any result today 😂 What an atmosphere and season we’ve had 👏 Did anyone tell us about playing champions league next season. Here’s to you, Unai Emery… 🟣🔵 #AVFC pic.twitter.com/oqAznIGIuF

What a season Aston Villa had under Unai Emery during the 2023/24 campaign. The Premier League is constantly overwhelmed with talk of the ‘Big Six' and the financial imbalance between those clubs nd the rest of the league – a gap that certainly exists – but Villa didn't let that stop them.
The Villains' top-four finish secured them Champions League football and should give the rest of the division belief that they can do the same in the years to come. It inspired a terrific chant from the side's fanbase, which went like this:
“Is this the way to Barcelona,
Bayern Munich, Lazio and Roma?
Villa boys are taking over,
Champions League awaits for me.”
England – Phil Foden's on Fire
The football song that has gained the most traction this summer is England's song for Phil Foden. Throughout Euro 2024, England fans have been heard singing the new chant wherever they have visited and, in many ways, it has become the song of the summer.
The lyrics to the song, which is sung to the tune of Dancing in the Dark by Bruce Springsteen, are as follows:
Can't start a fire,
Can’t start a fire without a spark,
Phil Foden's on fire,
he'll be playing the Germans off the park

England – Marc Guehi
One of the standout players for England throughout Euro 2024 has been Marc Guehi. The centre-back has filled the boots of Harry Maguire who missed the tournament through injury and he has now earned his own chant. To the tune of You to Me Are Everything by Real Thing, the song goes as follows:
You to me are everything,
You're taking England to Berlin,
Marc Guehi, Marc Guehi.
And when you play with Jonny Stones,
I'm sure that football's coming home,
Marc Guehi, Marc Guehi.
You to me are everything,
You’re taking England to Berlin,
Marc Guehi, Marc GuehiAnd when you play with Jonny Stones,
I’m sure that football’s coming home,

Having not always been known as a fanbase that can create a good atmosphere with chants, Arsenal supporters have certainly risen to prominence in this regard in recent years.
Now, they appear to create an iconic chant almost at will, and their new song for summer signing Riccardo Calafiori is already a fan-favourite – despite the Italian defender not yet playing any minutes for the club.
Sung to the tune of Dean Martin's 1953 smash hit ‘That's Amore', the official lyrics of the chant are as follows:
When he, plays at the back,
he will stop your attack,
Calafiori.
He chose red over blue,
plays for Mik and Edu,
Calafiori.
With the 22-year-old expected to have a very important role at the Emirates this year, we may be hearing a lot more of this chant in the upcoming 2024/25 campaign.
