The Exterior
There is one really important thing to note where LA Galaxy are concerned; they are a club with global appeal. The reason is two-fold; one they’re based on Los Angeles – a popular tourist spot and, two, they once landed arguably the most iconic football ever in David Beckham who put their worldwide profile through the roof. Nowadays, Beckham provides a photo opportunity at the ground with a statue of the now Inter Miami owner located close to the main entrance and club shop, both of which are to the south of the stadium.

The other striking factor from the outside is the design and architecture of the stadium roof. From above, it’s clear that the two roofing sections curve at one end and have a sharp finish at the other, which is a unique look in itself. What’s more impressive though are the huge stilts that hold the roof over the stands whilst leaving a gap to aid light and air flow.

The Interior
Once inside the ground, it’s all about the stands themselves. To the north, you have a single-tier of seating that runs on a steady but undramatic incline up to the Stadium Club suite with a large scoreboard taking pride of place above the glass fronted VIP boxes. The north stand, which has a section of safe standing too, offers very little protection from the weather with the roofing only covering the very corner seats before it’s abrupt cut off over those sat centrally. Directly opposite i.e. in the south stand, the seating is a similar deal with a single set of inclined seats but no standing. Thereare a few further few differences between the stands that are located behind the respective goals as well. The main things of note are that the south doesn’t have the premium lounge, isn’t covered by any roof at all and, whilst there is a large screen at both ends, the one in the south is for action replays whilst the other is literally just keeping a track of the score line and the time remaining.

That brings us on to the touchline stands. We’ll start with the west, which is a two-tiered stand with modest suites separating the two tiers. The west stand, despite its more ‘stripped back’ look is one that’s very desirable for those who really want to watch the game with reports that the sun interferes with your view of the match less on this flank. Finally, there is the east stand. The east stand is the most eye catching of the four with its single tier of seating almost replicated above in the shape of countless VIP lounges and suites.

Everyone loves to grub up and/or have a drink before the football gets underway. With the array of concessions available inside Dignity Healthy Sports Park, you’ll be hard pressed not to find something that satisfies your cravings. The choices available are vast with everything from simple snacks – like peanuts – through to things like pizza, burgers and even sushi on the menu. It’s not only there where the Galaxy are ticking boxes though because they’ve even got offerings available specifically for children alongside vegan and gluten free choices. On top of the food, you’ve also got a few drinking concessions to choose between; these include craft beers from Kona Brewing and LA Craft with the latter also having their fingers in the pie of spirits.

Despite having a decent range inside the stadium, there are also opportunities in the areas surrounding the ground. One of the closest restaurants, which is literally a few hundred yards away, is A & W. They are a well respected fast food restaurants pecialising in American dining. If you decide to head towards South Avalon Boulevard then within a minute or so you’ll arrive at a trio of eateries. These are KFC, another American diner by the name of Chinollo and the highly rated R & R Soul Food. If you have a sweet tooth, a further five minutes down South Avalon Boulevard will bring you to a Baskin Robins too!

Finally, if you head up towards the Gardena Freeway, which is still only about 0.5 miles from the stadium, you will find a few more choices of where to get your pre-match fill. You’ve got a Starbucks, a Big Burger, Del Taco and a very good Mexican restaurant in El Pescador.

The main thing to note for away fans is your seating location in the north east corner. This serves two real benefits for you. Firstly, there aren’t any views insideDignity Healthy Sports Park that don’t have a decent view but, unlike many grounds, it means visiting supporters are much closer to the more vocal home support. That generates friendly banter and a fantastic atmosphere meaning you’re in for a great time.

There are two easy ways of getting to Dignity Healthy Sports Park. The first option is to drive with the stadium being based so close to the main freeway. Once you’re in the vicinity of the ground, parking is an absolute doddle with multiple car parks dominating the immediate area around the stadium; in fact, there are numbered lots all the way up to lot 15. The other option you have is the club shuttle bus that runs from further afield on the east and west of the stadium. You can aboard the shuttle at either the Harbour Gateway or at Del Amo Station. Whatever place you join the shuttle, you can expect to be immersing yourself in the stadium surroundings in around 10 minutes time.

Given what a hot spot Los Angeles is, it’s highly plausible that spending the night might be of interest. Your closest option is the 3-star Hampton off East Albertoni Street. The good news is you’re just a 10 minute walk from the stadium; a one night stay will set you back around $350 though. If you’re trying to be somewhat gentler on your wallet then Motel-6 Gardena, which is located a 20 minute stroll away on West Albertoni Street comes in at an easier to swallow $220. It’s not all positives though because you get what you pay for and Gardena is only rated as 2-star. Still, if you are just looking to put your head down, it does give you another option.
