The European football season is now at its midway point, and as we enter 2026 and the second half of the campaign, the club with the highest average attendance has been revealed.
As we know, all of Europe's top leagues are home to some of the biggest and best stadiums in the world. In La Liga, we have the Santiago Bernabeu and the Camp Nou, in Italy, we have the San Siro and the Stadio Olimpico, and in England, we have Old Trafford and Anfield.
Naturally, the clubs with the biggest stadiums are more often than not among the most successful, but which European giant has the highest average attendance so far this season? For the answer to that question and more, keep reading.
Highest average attendance in Europe 2025/26
At the halfway stage of the season, it is the Bundesliga that is reigning supreme when it comes to bums on seats at the stadia across the country.
That is because the club with the highest attendance in Europe so far this season is Borussia Dortmund, who play their home matches at Signal Iduna Park. For every home match, BVB attracts, on average, 81,365 fans, more than any other club side in Europe.
In second place are fellow Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich, who average 75,000 fans per round. Rounding off the top five are Man Utd (73,380), Real Madrid (72,973), and AC Milan (72,033).

It is no surprise to see the Bundesliga leading the way when it comes to attendances. German football fans are arguably the most passionate in Europe, and Bundesliga 2 attendances often outperform other major leagues when it comes to gate receipts.
One thing worth noting is that under normal circumstances, Barcelona would more than likely top this chart. However, the ongoing renovation work at the Camp Nou has forced them to play in front of a limited capacity since returning, so they won't be troubling the top of this chart any time soon.
FGG says: More plaudits for German football fans
German football fans can often do no wrong in the media, and rightly so. They know exactly how to best support their teams, and fans of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are proving that to be true this season.
