The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations kicks off on December 21 in Morocco and will be staged across six cities, blending historic settings with a new generation of modern football venues.
Nine stadiums will be used during the tournament, with Rabat alone providing four, underlining the capital’s role as the competition’s operational hub.
Several of the venues have also been put forward for the 2030 World Cup, which Morocco will co-host alongside Spain and Portugal.
With that in mind, Football Grounds Guide runs through the host cities and stadiums for AFCON 2025, offering supporters a closer look at the grounds that will stage the action.
AFCON 2025 host cities and stadiums
Adrar Stadium – Agadir
Adrar Stadium holds 45,000 spectators and sits in Agadir, a sunny resort city on Morocco’s Atlantic coast.
Known for its long beaches, lively markets and views of the Atlas Mountains, Agadir offers a relaxed setting for matchdays.
Opened in 2013 and upgraded for AFCON 2025, the stadium features a covered stand and modern facilities. It will host group-stage and knockout fixtures, including Egypt’s opening clash against Zimbabwe.
Stade Mohammed V – Casablanca
Stade Mohammed V is one of Morocco’s most iconic grounds, with a capacity of 45,000 and a long-standing place in the country’s football culture.</p>
Located in Casablanca — Morocco’s largest city — it serves as the home of fierce rivals Raja CA and Wydad AC.
The stadium was refurbished ahead of AFCON 2025 and will host key matches, including group-stage games such as Burkina Faso vs Equatorial Guinea, as well as the third-place playoff.
Fez Stadium – Fez
Fez Stadium holds 45,000 fans and is home to Maghreb AS. It is based in Fez, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural heart, renowned for its mediaeval medina and historic madrasas.
The stadium combines modern design with traditional touches, including a glass facade and an athletics track. AFCON 2025 fixtures here include Nigeria vs Tunisia on 27 December, along with a round of 16 tie.
Marrakesh Stadium – Marrakesh
Marrakesh Stadium has a capacity of 45,240 and hosts Kawkab Marrakesh. Set in the “Red City”, famous for its ochre buildings and vibrant street life, it provides one of the tournament’s most colourful backdrops.
Marrakesh’s rectangular layout, corner towers and two-tiered stands surround an athletics track and the venue will host group games such as Ivory Coast vs Cameroon and Gabon vs Ivory Coast, alongside knockout matches.
Tangier Grand Stadium – Tangier
Also known as Ibn Battuta Stadium, Tangier Grand is Morocco’s largest venue, seating 75,500 spectators.
The stadium is located in Tangier, a historic port city at the northern tip of the country, shaped by African, Arab and European influences.
The stadium has underwent modern upgrades, including a covered roof and the removal of the athletics track, bringing fans closer to the pitch. AFCON 2025 fixtures here include Senegal vs DR Congo in the group stage alongside other knockout clashes.
Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium – Rabat
Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium is Rabat’s flagship venue, holding 68,700 spectators. Completed in 2025 on the site of the former stadium, it is home to the Morocco national team and forms part of a wider sports complex.
Moulay Abdellah will host AFCON 2025’s opening game between Morocco and Comoros, alongside several knockout ties and the final on January 18.
Moulay El Hassan Stadium – Rabat | 22,000
Moulay El Hassan Stadium is a 22,000-seat venue in Rabat’s El Youssoufia district and the home of FUS Rabat.
Rebuilt in 2024–25, it blends traditional Moroccan materials with a modern design, while seating and airflow have been carefully planned for spectator comfort.
The stadium will host group-stage matches, including Equatorial Guinea vs Algeria, as well as a round of 16 fixture on January 9.
Al Medina Stadium – Rabat
Al Medina Stadium is the smallest AFCON 2025 venue, holding 18,000 spectators, and serves as the home ground of UTS Rabat.
Despite its size, it offers modern, FIFA-standard facilities, with two-tiered seating, a protective roof and strong sightlines. Its white, diamond-patterned exterior stands out in Rabat’s Agdal district. AFCON 2025 group-stage matches here include Uganda vs Tanzania.
Rabat Olympic Stadium – Rabat
The Rabat Olympic Stadium sits within the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex and holds 21,000 fans.
Built in just nine months and opened in May 2025, it features a World Athletics-standard track, natural grass pitch and a crescent-shaped roof.
The Olympic Stadium will host group-stage matches at AFCON 2025, including Benin vs Botswana on December 27.
