Arsenal supporters were in full voice during the club's Premier League title celebrations at Selhurst Park, and one player in particular found himself at the centre of a brand-new chant.
With the title already wrapped up before kick-off, travelling fans turned the afternoon into one long celebration and used the occasion to poke fun at one of the season's most talked-about moments involving Declan Rice.
New Declan Rice chant emerges during title celebrations at Selhurst Park
Gunners supporters unveiled a fresh chant for Declan Rice during celebrations following their title-clinching season, with the song referencing the midfielder's now-viral “it's not done” comments after defeat to Manchester City back in April.
The chant heard from Arsenal fans went:
“He said it's not done, he said it's not done… Declan Rice, he said it's not done.”
Rice's original words came after Arsenal's frustrating loss at the Etihad Stadium, when television cameras caught him trying to rally team-mates and insisting the title race was still alive.
At the time, some critics questioned whether the moment was overly theatrical or aimed at the cameras, but Arsenal ultimately had the last laugh after completing their title-winning campaign.
The chant arrived during a party atmosphere at Selhurst Park as Mikel Arteta heavily rotated his side following confirmation of Arsenal's first Premier League crown in 22 years.
With little riding on the result itself, supporters instead spent much of the afternoon celebrating the title and singing songs for their heroes.
FGG says: Not a long-term Arsenal chant but it was the perfect moment for it
This feels like one of those chants born entirely out of the occasion.
Supporters love taking moments that were mocked or questioned and turning them into part of the celebration story, and Rice's “it's not done” clip became one of the defining soundbites of Arsenal's title run after they proved him right.
Whether it survives into next season feels doubtful because it is very specific to this campaign, but as a cheeky nod during title celebrations, it worked perfectly.
Judging by the reaction, Rice looked like he enjoyed every second of it, too.
