Arsenal were drawn to face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-final, thousands of Gunners fans will now be planning their trip to the Spanish capital.

With one of the two legs taking place at the impressive Metropolitano Stadium, FootballGroundGuide takes a look at the best ways to travel to Madrid, whether you’re prioritising speed, budget or the best away-day experience.

Best way for Arsenal fans to travel to Madrid by Plane

For most supporters, flying is by far the easiest and most practical option.

Madrid is served by Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport, which is only a short distance from the stadium. Direct flights operate regularly from London and most major UK airports, with journey times of around two-and-a-half hours.

Once you land, you can reach the stadium by taxi in around 15–20 minutes, with fares usually costing around £30.

Alternatively, Madrid’s metro and rail network provide quick and affordable links into both the city centre and the stadium area.

Easiest way for Arsenal fans to reach the Metropolitano Stadium by Metro or Train

Madrid’s public transport system makes getting to the stadium simple once you arrive.

The easiest option is to use Line 7 of the Madrid Metro to Estadio Metropolitano Station, which sits right outside the ground.

An alternative is Las Musas Station, also on Line 7, although it involves a slightly longer walk to the stadium.

Fans staying in central Madrid can usually reach the ground in around 20–30 minutes by metro.

If you would prefer to avoid changing lines, Torre Arias Station on Line 5 is another option. However, from there it is around a 25-minute walk to the stadium.
