How many Aston Villa fans are going to Monaco?

Aston Villa were only allocated  1,000 tickets for this fixture which is the standard amount of a team visiting the Stade Louis II due to the fact the stadium only has a capacity of 18,523. UEFA stipulates that clubs must allocate at least 5% of their allocation to away fans and this figure just about meets that threshold.

Those who haven't been able to get Monaco vs Aston Villa tickets in the away end are in luck, though, as Monaco are selling tickets to ‘general supporters' on their website. As a result, it is anticipated that many more than 1,000 Aston Villa fans will make the trip over to France.

Where will Aston Villa fans sit at the Stade Louis II Stadium?

The Monaco away section is located to the left of the goal behind the southern end of the stadium, in the Populaires stand. This stand is shared with home supporters with away fans entering through three different turnstiles into block H.

The view of the pitch from the away section isn't the best due to the running track that wraps around the pitch. It means that Villa fans will feel quite disconnected from the action which can have a negative impact on the atmosphere. It will be particularly difficult to tell what's going on when the ball is at the opposite end.

In more positive news, there is no perspex glass or netting in front of the away end, something that is frequently a problem in European stadiums. In terms of the concourse, cash and card payments are accepted but no alcohol will be served to Aston Villa fans.
