On Tuesday, 21 January, Aston Villa will travel to France to take on Monaco in the UEFA Champions League.
As things stand, the English side sit fifth in the Champions League, a point ahead of Borussia Dortmund in ninth. Unai Emery will be keen to finish in the top eight to automatically qualify for the round of 16. Their opponents have had a mixed run of form in Europe this season, winning three, drawing one and losing two. This leaves them 16th in the table, three points behind the top eight.
For the travelling Villa fans, this will be the first time they have seen their team play at Stade Louis II. For all the key information relating to the Monaco away section, our guide below has you covered.
Matchday – How to get to the stadium
There are many ways to get to Stade Louis II, but the most convenient route is via the train. From Nice, supporters should take the train to Monaco Monte Carlo station. When you arrive here, it is a 15-minute walk to the ground.
Alternatively, you can take bus line 100 from Nice. As per Monaco’s website, “The Stade Louis-II is served by lines four and six.” As well as this, there are plenty of taxis in and around the principality of Monaco, which is another option for supporters, especially if they are running short of time.
Where is the Monaco away section?
Villa fans will be located in the southernmost corner of Stade Louis II. There are three blocks in “Populaires H” which is where the visiting supporters will be located on Tuesday, 21 January. The away section is next to the “Honneurs” stand, where the club’s hospitality and VIP areas are located.
What is the Monaco away section like?
Supporters will have a good view of the pitch from the Monaco away section as there is no netting or Perspex screens. Both card and cash payments are accepted at Stade Louis II, but it is worth noting that no alcohol will be served in the concourse to Villa fans.
