The Champions League returns this week, which is an exciting occasion for all football fans but particularly for those whose teams are playing in the competition.
While the new league phase format has split opinions, for match-going fans, it's an opportunity to squeeze one more European away trip in each season.
For Chelsea fans, their first European away trip of the season is to Munich to see their team go up against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, 17 August.
The trip will be a nostalgic one for many Blues as it is at this stadium against these opponents when they were crowned European champions for the first time in 2012.
If you are travelling over to Germany for the match, here is everything you need to know.

How many Chelsea fans are going to the Allianz Arena
Due to the size of the Allianz Arena, Chelsea have been given a very healthy allocation of 3,779 tickets for the match against Bayern Munich. These tickets went on sale at the beginning of September, and they all sold out within a day of going on sale, illustrating that this is a match that fans are prepared to travel for.
Due to how easy it is to get from London to Munich, it wouldn't be a surprise if more than that figure travelled over to Bavaria for the match. Fans travelling ticketless to European away matches is relatively common, particularly for matches of this magnitude.
Where will Chelsea fans sit at the Allianz Arena?
Chelsea fans will have to watch the match from a distance on Wednesday night as the Allianz Arena away section is located up in the gods. Specifically, the travelling Chelsea contingent will be in the third of the northeast corner of the stadium, so they will do well to make themselves heard on the night.
Chelsea fans will enter through blocks 339-347 on the night, and in fairness, the view from up here isn't too bad. The stadium is relatively modern and was built to ensure that all supporters had a good view of the action on the pitch.
Bayern Munich have charged travelling Chelsea fans just £26 per ticket for their UCL fixture next week. 🎟️

- Kennedy's – Sendlinger-Tor-Platz 11, 80336 Munchen, Germany

How to get to the Allianz Arena: Guide for Chelsea fans in Munich
The only real downside to Bayern Munich away is that the Allianz Arena is around 10km away from Munich city centre, which means walking to the ground isn't possible. As a result, Chelsea fans will need to either jump in a taxi or use the very efficeint Munich public transport system.
If using public transport, head to Marienplatz in the city centre and then take the U6 underground line to Frottmaning. From here, the stadium is just a 15-minute walk away. Door to door, the total travel time from Marienplatz to the Allianz Arena is 30 minutes, which isn't awful.
