On Thursday, 26 February, Celtic will travel to Germany for the second leg of their Europa League playoff tie with Stuttgart.

The match will decide which of the two teams will go on to play in the Round of 16 of the competition, making it a fixture of high stakes.

Ever since the draw was made, the away leg has been one that match-going Celtic fans have been counting down to. It's hard to blame them, either, as German away days so often deliver.

If you are a Celtic fan travelling to Stuttgart for the match, here is everything you need to know to make the trip an enjoyable one.

How many Celtic fans are going to Stuttgart?

Celtic have been given an allocation of 2,900 tickets for the match against Stuttgart at the MHP Arena, and all of these tickets have been sold. After the draw was made, there were rumours that both clubs were in talks about increasing the away allocations across both legs, but nothing ever came of it.

Due to the magnitude of the match, and how accessible Germany is from Scotland, it is anticipated that hundreds of Celtic fans will travel to Stuttgart without tickets.

Where will Celtic fans sit at the MHP Arena?

Celtic fans will be placed in the corner between the Unterturkheimer Stand and the Karcher Tribune at the MHP Arena. The away section spans both tiers, and Celtic fans will enter through blocks 61-65 depending on where their ticket is situated.

The view of the pitch from the away section is generally pretty good. The bottom tier is relatively flat, so a lot of visiting fans prefer the steeper upper tier.

Where to eat & drink for Celtic fans in Stuttgart

As with most major cities in Germany, Stuttgart is well-equipped to deal with an influx of football fans, so Celtic fans aren't going to be short of options when it comes to pubs. As ever, Celtic fans will likely want to scout out the best Irish pubs in the area to gather pre-match. Our recommendations are as follows:

  • Biddy Earlys Irish Pub – Marienstrasse 28, 70178 Stuttgart, Germany
  • The Auld Rogue – Hauptstrasse 57, 70563 Stuttgart, Germany
  • The Dubliner – Plieninger Str. 100, 70567 Stuttgart, Germany

How to get to the MHP Arena: Guide for Celtic fans

The MHP Arena is located 4.5km away from the city centre of Stuttgart, which makes walking to the stadium a no-go for many supporters.

The easiest and quickest way to get there is to use the S1 line on the city's S-bahn from the main railway station to Kirchheim. You will need to depart the metro at Neckarpark and then take a five-minute walk to the stadium.
