Barcelona are already planning ahead for another potential temporary move, despite still being in the middle of their Camp Nou redevelopment.
With the next major construction phase looming, the club are taking early steps to ensure they aren’t left without a suitable home during a crucial period.
Barcelona in talks over Olympic Stadium return amid Camp Nou roof plans
The club have opened talks with the city council over using the Olympic Stadium at Montjuïc for part of the 2027/28 season, when work begins on installing the new roof at Camp Nou, per reports in Spain.
That phase of construction is expected to start in summer 2027 and could last several months, with additional time required for safety inspections and approvals before the stadium can fully reopen.
As a result, Barcelona may need an alternative venue until early 2028.
While no formal agreement has been signed, the club are keen to secure Montjuïc as a fallback option, avoiding disruption to both LaLiga and Champions League fixtures, as well as protecting matchday revenue.

FGG says: Smart planning from Barcelona even if Camp Nou disruption continues
This is an example of forward planning done right, as it keeps fans in the loop well in advance.
Barcelona know the risks of major construction timelines changing, and lining up a contingency years in advance helps avoid last-minute chaos.
It’s not ideal for fans to face another temporary relocation, but the reality is that a project of this scale comes with unavoidable disruption. By acting early, the club at least gives supporters clarity and time to prepare.
Ultimately, the short-term inconvenience should be outweighed by the long-term gain. A fully completed Camp Nou capable of generating significantly higher revenue and restoring Barcelona’s status at the top of European football.
