Barcelona are still waiting to play at the renovated Camp Nou, having seen a number of prospective return dates come and go.

The Blaugrana have continued to play at Montjuic this season, apart from a couple of games that were held at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.

Despite the uncertainty, Barcelona have continued to perform in front of their own supporters, having won all five of their home league games this season, including a 3-1 victory over Elche in their most recent outing at Montjuic on November 2.

While they have not let the stadium uncertainty affect their home performances, Barcelona will be desperate to get back to the familiar surroundings of Camp Nou, even if it has been modernised since their last game at the iconic venue in May 2023.

A return to play with a reduced capacity appears to be closer than ever, with the club eyeing their next two matches as homecoming dates.

Barcelona eyeing two possible return dates

According to Sport, Barcelona are holding out hope that they will get the green light to face Athletic Bilbao at the Camp Nou in the first game back after the international break.

If they are unable to return to Camp Nou next weekend, Barcelona will attempt to get everything in place to play Alaves at their famous home on November 29.

The Blaugrana were hoping to receive the go-ahead before the end of the working week, but they are yet to hear an official response from the city council.

In a separate update, Marca claim that the Barcelona board are confident they will receive all the permits from the city council on Monday. They are then expected to make an official request to La Liga to move the game against Athletic from Montjuic to Camp Nou.

FGG says: Time running out for Athletic clash

Barcelona appear close to returning to Camp Nou to play in front of a reduced capacity of 45,000 spectators.

However, they appear to be running out of time to get everything in place for their home meeting with Athletic next Sunday.

It would be a shame if they have to wait until the match against Alaves, because facing a club of Athletic's stature would be a great way to mark Barcelona's long-awaited return to their refurbished home.

With that said, it will just be a great relief to get back to the Camp Nou, whether that is next weekend or at the end of the month.
