Barcelona vs Valencia announcement due as latest Camp Nou update emerges

Barcelona's hopes of returning to the Camp Nou this month are looking slim, with fans still waiting for an official announcement on where they will play their upcoming La Liga match against Valencia.

After a series of delays, the most recent plan was for the club to return to the Camp Nou for the match against Valencia on Sunday, 14 September, but they still don't have the necessary documentation to be able to welcome fans back to the stadium.

Where will Barcelona vs Valencia be played?

As things stand, Barcelona are yet to receive the Final Works Certificate and the First Occupancy License from Barcelona City Council, which means Barcelona won't be able to play at the Camp Nou this weekend with or without fans unless something dramatic changes in the next couple of days.

According to a report in local news outlet, Cadena SER, La Liga have set Barcelona a deadline of today (09/09/2025) for the club to confirm where they will play the match against Valencia, but it is understood that the Camp Nou is out of the question.

All signs point towards the club's reverse stadium, Johan Cruyff Stadium, being used after La Liga approved the stadium. The stadium only has a capacity of 6,000, which is smaller than the minimum threshold of 8,000 enforced by La Liga, but Barcelona have been given an exemption due to the ongoing Camp Nou renovation.

The Catalans have been playing home matches at the Estadio Olimpico Lluis Companys for two years now, but they will be unable to play the match against Valencia here. If the delays persist, then the Olympic Stadium will once again become their temporary home for the foreseeable future.

FGG says: A situation that is becoming slightly embarrassing

We have now lost count of the number of times that Barcelona have had to delay their return to the Camp Nou, and it's reached the point where the club should perhaps consider not publicly announcing when they are planning to return. Get the work done in the background and then return when it's ready.
