Best stadiums for Wrexham fans to visit in Championship

The 2024/25 season was yet another memorable one for Wrexham and their fans as their meteoric rise continued with promotion to the Championship.

The Welsh side have now been promoted three years in a row, and if they can make it four-in-a-row this season, then they will be gearing up for a year in the Premier League a year from now.

First things first, though, a season in the Championship and with that comes a selection of new stadiums for Wrexham supporters to visit.

Below, we've picked out the five stadiums that Wrexham fans should be most excited about visiting next season.

Best stadiums for Wrexham fans to visit in the Championship: The top five

The Hawthorns

There are three teams in the Championship that Wrexham have never played a league match against, and West Brom are one of them. The Hawthorns is, therefore, a stadium that no Wrexham fan will have ever visited before, making it a bucket list ground for many supporters.

West Brom's home is one of the most historic in the division, too, which only adds to the excitement around Wrexham's trip there. The Hawthorns has a capacity of 26,850, and Wrexham fans should expect an away allocation of around 2,500 when they visit.

King Power Stadium

If Wrexham fans want a taste of the big time, then their trip to the King Power Stadium is probably as close as they are going to get this season, barring any Premier League cup draws. The Foxes won the Premier League less than ten years ago and are an example to the Red Dragons of what is possible in the top flight.

In every way, the King Power is a Premier League-calibre stadium in the Championship. It has a capacity of 32,261, has excellent facilities and will be a noticeable improvement on League One stadiums for matchgoing Wrexham supporters.

Hillsborough

The biggest stadium that Wrexham will visit in the Championship this season is Hillsborough, the home of Sheffield Wednesday. The capacity is just shy of 40,000 and is one of the most iconic in English football, making it a must-visit for all Wrexham fans this season.

Beyond the stadium, a trip to Sheffield is one that Wrexham fans should be excited about. They haven't faced Sheffield Wednesday or United away from home in over 45 years, and Sheffield is one of the best cities to visit as an away fan.

Ewood Park

Ewood Park may well look like a left-field choice, but Blackburn Rovers away is a trip that all fans in the Championship look forward to. The reason? Blackburn typically gives away supporters a mammoth away allocation of up to 7,000.

Wrexham fans have been brilliant away from home in recent seasons, and if there is one stadium in the Championship where they have the opportunity to outnumber home fans, then this is it. Also, the trip from Wrexham to Blackburn isn't overly long, which only increases the chances of the Red Dragons taking a sizeable following.

Swansea.com Stadium

Finally, the number one stadium on all Wrexham fans' bucket lists this season will be the Swansea.com Stadium. Since Swansea, Cardiff City, and Wrexham joined the English Football League in the 1920s, the biggest Welsh derby has been between Swansea and Cardiff, but that could all be about to change.

After Cardiff's relegation last season, the Welsh derby this season in the Championship will be between Swansea and Wrexham. Can the Red Dragons go to the Swansea.com Stadium and win? If they can, then it will be a day to remember for everyone associated with the club.
