Supporters of AFC Bournemouth have been warned that matchday parking around the Vitality Stadium will be significantly reduced as the club presses ahead with redevelopment work on their home ground.

The Premier League club are moving forward with an ambitious stadium upgrade designed to transform one of the smallest venues in the top flight. However, the latest stage of construction has created a short-term inconvenience for supporters travelling by car.

Parking spaces reduced during Bournemouth stadium redevelopment

The changes come as enabling works for the Vitality Stadium expansion continue following approval from Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council earlier this year.

As part of the project, approximately 150 parking spaces near the stadium have been removed temporarily, with construction activity and infrastructure works taking up sections of the existing car park.

The club confirmed the changes in an update to supporters, explaining that matchday parking arrangements would be adjusted while redevelopment progresses.

Alternative parking locations are being offered, including spaces at the nearby Sovereign Centre, which is roughly a 12-minute walk from the stadium.

The reduction in spaces is expected to remain in place for several fixtures while groundwork continues around the South Stand area.

Part of major £50m stadium expansion

The disruption comes as Bournemouth move forward with a £50 million redevelopment of the Vitality Stadium, which is set to dramatically increase its capacity.

Currently holding just over 11,000 supporters, the ground is the smallest in the Premier League. The redevelopment will expand the venue to more than 20,000 seats, almost doubling its current size.

The project includes the construction of a new South Stand, corner infill sections and improvements to facilities designed to bring the stadium closer to UEFA standards.

Club officials say the development is vital if Bournemouth are to continue growing both commercially and competitively in the Premier League.

While supporters will see some capacity increases in the near future, the redevelopment will take place in phases.

The lower tier of the new South Stand is expected to open first, with additional structural work and corner sections continuing during the 2026-27 season.

Club executives have acknowledged that projects of this scale often encounter logistical challenges, but insist the long-term transformation of the Vitality Stadium remains firmly on track.

FGG Says

For Bournemouth supporters, the short-term parking inconvenience is likely to feel like a small price to pay for a stadium that finally reflects the club’s rise.

The Vitality Stadium has long been the Premier League’s most intimate venue, but also one that limits revenue and long-term growth.

If the redevelopment is completed as planned, Bournemouth will move much closer to matching the infrastructure of their top-flight rivals, even if fans have to take a slightly longer walk to the ground in the meantime.
