Celtic are looking to strengthen their ties with the local community through a new project outside Celtic Park.
The proposed development would see a dedicated children's football facility built next to the iconic Scottish stadium for local youngsters to use free of charge.
Celtic want to build a kids football pitch right outside Celtic Park
Celtic have submitted plans to Glasgow City Council to build a new multi-use games area (MUGA) within the grounds of Celtic Park, according to local reports.
If approved, the facility would be operated by the Celtic FC Foundation and made available free of charge for local children, subject to the charity's operating procedures.
According to the planning application, the pitch would provide a modern playing surface suitable for a variety of ball games and recreational activities, creating what the club describes as a “safe, secure and inclusive environment” for children in Glasgow's East End.
The Celtic FC Foundation would take responsibility for both the operation and ongoing maintenance of the facility, with the plans highlighting the wider social and community benefits the project is expected to deliver.
A security fence would also be installed around the pitch to protect the facility when it is not in use.
The proposal is currently being considered by Glasgow City Council, with a planning decision expected by September 8th.

FGG says: Another positive investment beyond matchdays
While this won't change the matchday experience inside Celtic Park, it would be another welcome example of a football club investing in its local community.
Providing free access to quality sporting facilities for young people is exactly the kind of initiative that can leave a lasting legacy beyond the first team, particularly in an area with such strong ties to the club.
