After a string of clubs took advantage of supporters by charging excessive prices for away tickets in European competitions, UEFA have stepped in to introduce an away ticket cap for all of their club competitions.
All clubs that compete in the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League are bound by the new price cap which means that travelling supporters won't have to pay eye-watering ticket prices on top of the accommodation and travel costs.
Our guide below runs through the new price caps for each European competition.
UEFA away ticket price cap
Champions League away ticket price cap
A cap on Champions League away ticket prices was first introduced in 2019 following a series of protests from fans throughout the 2010s. At first, the price cap was set at €70 for all Champions League fixtures but from the start of the 2024/25 season, the cap has been set at €60.
In even better news, UEFA have announced that the cap will come down further from the beginning of the 2025/26 season when the maximum charge for away fans in Champions League matches will be €50.
It's worth noting that this new cap won't be in effect for finals meaning that host stadiums can still charge whatever they like for Champions League final tickets.
Europa League away ticket price cap
The price cap on away tickets for the Europa League was introduced in 2019 with travelling fans charged a maximum of €45 per ticket. From the 2024/25 season, this cap has been reduced to €40 and this will be taken down further to €35 for the 2025/26 season.
Europa Conference League away ticket price cap
The Europa Conference League didn't exist when the initial away ticket price caps were introduced but when the competition launched in 2021, the price cap was set at €35. From the 2024/25 season, this cap has been reduced to €25 and will be reduced further next season to €20.
Uefa announce cap on away ticket prices for Champions, Europa, and Conference league. Maximum away ticket for CL is now €60. EL €40 and Conference €20.

UEFA away ticket price cap – the response
The newly announced away ticket price cap has been well-received by matchgoing fans across Europe. Football Supporters Europe, a group that has long campaigned for a reduction in the cost of away tickets released the following statement:
“The revised price caps are further recognition of how integral away fans are to the atmosphere of European club fixtures. Today’s decision illustrates another positive achievement in FSE’s joint work with UEFA and clubs on improving conditions for fans travelling across Europe.”
Meanwhile, UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin added:
“This marks another key step in reaffirming Uefa's commitment to enhancing the matchday experience for all fans.
“By introducing more fan-friendly policies, we continue our mission to keep football as an inclusive sport, where supporters who travel across Europe to follow their teams are valued and recognised.”
