We are now racing towards the conclusion of the 2025/26 Championship season, and the race for promotion is set for a thrilling finale.
It has been an entertaining season in the second tier, with surprises most weeks. At the bottom of the table, Sheffield Wednesday have been as good as down since the opening day of the season, but just five points separate Oxford United in 22nd and Charlton Athletic in 18th.
At the top of the table, Coventry City are now just one point away from promotion, while Ipswich are back in second place with two games in hand on the chasing pack below.

Unsurprisingly, Coventry City are at the top of the attendance ranking in the Championship. There is plenty of excitement in the air in Coventry, and supporters don't want to miss out on any of the action in what will almost certainly be a historic season for the club.
At the very bottom are Wrexham, with an average attendance of 10,608. The reason for this is the ongoing development at one end of the Racecourse Ground and the stadium's generally low capacity, which can hold only 13,341 fans.
Week 42 2025/26 Championship attendances
Week 42 of the Championship saw Coventry City inch a point closer to promotion, while Leicester City edged closer to back-to-back relegations.
The biggest attendance this weekend came from the CBS Arena for Coventry's clash with Sheffield Wednesday. In total, 31,647 fans turned up in what many hoped would be the day Coventry mathematically secured promotion. It wasn't to be, though, as the Sky Blues were held to a 0-0 draw.
Championship record attendance
Unsurprisingly, the highest ever attendance at a Championship match came at a playoff final at Wembley Stadium. Back in 2014, 87,348 fans turned up at the national stadium to watch Derby County take on QPR, with Bobby Zamora famously scoring a last-minute winner for the Hoops.
