VodafoneThree have announced a major network upgrade at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge home.
Stamford Bridge became the first Premier League ground to switch on 5G across its entirety in 2022 after the technology was rolled out by the club's Official Connectivity Partner, Three.
Three and Vodafone now operate under the VodafoneThree entity after the two companies officially completed their merger last year. As a result, VodafoneThree customers benefit from Multi-Operate Core Network (MOCN) technology, which ensures that customers of either company will connect to either a Vodafone or Three's network infrastructure – depending on which one is quicker.
VodafoneThree announce major update at Stamford Bridge
VodaphoneThree have announced that the MOCN technology will allow Vodafone and Three customers to enjoy the ‘best available coverage' when they are in attendance at Stamford Bridge.
An advanced feature at Chelsea's stadium ‘allows customers to take advantage of a much-improved network capability using the dedicated Three UK infrastructure'.
Following the announcement, VodafoneThree's Chief Network Officer, Andrea Dona, said: “We’re proud to deliver enhanced network capacity at Stamford Bridge, as we know that connectivity is a vital part of the matchday experience.
“Activating advanced network technology around the stadium has resulted in a better mobile experience, not just for consumers but for vendors operating on site too.
“This latest upgrade supports our commitment to build the UK’s best network and ensure fans can stay connected when it matters most. So, whether they’re browsing the latest results from across the league orsharingvideoson social media, we’ve got them covered.”

Fans may have already noticed a difference on matchdays, given the fact that the improvements were put in place before Chelsea's Women's Super League clash against London City Lionesses on November 1, 2025. The first men's game that took place after the improvements was the Premier League meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers on November 8.
FGG says: Positive news for Vodafone customers
The majority of football fans will know the frustration of trying and failing to use their phone in a busy football stadium, where poor connectivity can prevent supporters from even completing simple actions such as checking the scores elsewhere.
Three customers should already know the benefits of the technology in place at Stamford Bridge, but now Vodafone users should enjoy an improved matchday experience.
However, the benefit of the technology will be limited to some extent, considering that plenty of supporters will not be using Three or Vodafone as their mobile network.
