Crystal Palace are currently enjoying one of, if not the strongest, periods of the club's history. The Eagles won their first-ever FA Cup in May and are now operating towards the top end of the Premier League table. In fact, Oliver Glasner's side are sitting in fourth spot in the standings after winning seven, drawing five and losing three of their 15 league matches.

While Palace are performing on the pitch, they are also looking to make improvements off the field. The club are currently working to redevelop Selhurst Park, although progress has been slow since they were first granted planning permission by Croydon Council eight years ago, with preliminary work only taking place last summer.

However, Palace chairman Steve Parish is confident that Eagles supporters will start seeing visible work at Selhurst Park in 2026.

Parish offers positive Selhurst Park redevelopment update

Referring to former co-owner John Textor, Parish told The Athletic: “It’s no secret that not everyone wanted to do it, so we had some funding issues. Then the costs got out of control, and now we have managed to get them back under control. We had massive inflation in the market.

The Palace chairman went on to add: “We’re trying to develop all areas of the club. We’re not a sovereign state; this is people’s money.

“It has to make some kind of rational sense to do it. If you look at the round of what we’re achieving as a club, facilities, the stadium will start in January, with people seeing holes dug in the ground, it is a lot.

“If anyone thinks we should just do one or the other (invest in either the squad or the infrastructure), they are wrong.

“We need to develop all elements of the club and be a destination for players, not somewhere some players see as a stepping stone.”

FGG says: Stadium redevelopment key for club growth

Palace can currently welcome just over 25,000 supporters to the atmospheric Selhurst Park. The Eagles hope to increase that figure to 34,000 with the proposed redevelopment work.

The stadium needs improvement and modernising to match Palace's success on the pitch. The club are currently competing in the Conference League and will be looking to play in European competition again in 2026-27.

With the Eagles looking to establish themselves as a team that can regularly play in Europe, they will ultimately want a stadium that can reflect those ambitions and allow as many Palace fans as possible to attend Selhurst Park.
