Crystal Palace fans made their frustration unmistakably clear on Sunday, even as the team secured a dramatic late win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
A protest in the stands at Selhurst Park overshadowed the on-pitch celebrations as fans made their feelings about Oliver Glasner and the club's board very clear.
What did Crystal Palace fans do during their win over Wolves?
During the Premier League clash between Palace and Wolves, Eagles fans unfurled a brutal banner aimed at manager Oliver Glasner and the club’s board.
Displayed inside Selhurst Park, the banner read: “Opportunities missed – board inept. Fans disrespected – Glasner finished.”
It came despite Palace sealing all three points thanks to Evann Guessand’s 90th-minute winner.
Glasner was also booed by sections of the home crowd, just days after being taunted during Palace’s Conference League draw with Zrinjski Mostar, where chants of “sacked in the morning” rang out.
The protest followed confirmation that Glasner will leave the club at the end of the season, despite still being in charge.
FGG says: An odd situation at Crystal Palace that needs a quick resolution
The situation has been fuelled by a difficult campaign.
Palace had won just one of their previous 11 league matches before Sunday, were knocked out of the FA Cup by non-league minnows Macclesfield, and also sanctioned the sales of key players like Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi.
Once Glasner publicly confirmed he would leave at the end of the season, it was almost inevitable that results and atmosphere would suffer. Since that moment, Palace’s league form has nosedived.
Allowing him to continue in charge, while openly discussing his exit, has created uncertainty – the players know change is coming, the fans feel disconnected, and every poor result amplifies the frustration around South East London right now.
The club's hierarchy must recognise that this situation is nearing boiling point, and they need to act now to salvage the recent success the club has worked hard to build at Selhurst Park in recent times.
