Arsenal supporters have reacted angrily after reports suggested their first away trip of the new Premier League season is set to be moved for live television coverage.

The Gunners' visit to Aston Villa could now take place on the evening of Bank Holiday Monday, prompting an immediate backlash from travelling fans.

Arsenal away trip to Aston Villa set to be moved to a Monday night

Arsenal fans have voiced their frustration after rumours suggested the club's Premier League trip to Aston Villa will be moved from Saturday August 29th to Bank Holiday Monday (31st) at 8pm for live television coverage.

While the change has yet to be officially confirmed, several supporters reacted furiously on social media after the proposed switch emerged.

One fan labelled the move “disgusting”, while another said it showed football authorities “don't give a s*** about the fans who actually go to these matches”.

Others questioned the lack of consideration for travelling supporters, with one describing the scheduling as “so rough” for those making the journey to Villa Park.

The fixture is expected to be one of Sky Sports' early live picks, with some of the Gunners faithful also suggesting the broadcaster could select the Gunners' clash with Chelsea the following weekend.

The defending champions are also set to kick off the new season against newcomers Coventry City on a Friday night, too.

A Bank Holiday Monday evening kick-off would make returning home significantly more difficult for thousands of away supporters, particularly those travelling from London to Birmingham using public transport.

FGG says: Arsenal fans right to be annoyed by this news

If these reports prove accurate, Arsenal fans are right to feel frustrated.

While live television brings huge audiences, moving a long-distance away fixture to an 8pm Bank Holiday Monday kick-off makes life considerably harder for the supporters who spend the most time and money following their team.
