England’s final preparations for the 2026 World Cup are beginning to take shape, but one key detail remains unresolved.

And it could have a significant impact on both logistics and supporters’ travel plans.

Miami or Orlando will host England vs Costa Rica before 2026 World Cup

The Three Lions are still waiting to confirm the venue for their second pre-tournament friendly against Costa Rica.

Thomas Tuchel’s side are already scheduled to face New Zealand national football team in Tampa on June 6th.

However, the June 10th clash is yet to be finalised, with two venues still under consideration – The Miami Dolphins' Hard Rock Stadium and Orlando City's Inter & Co Stadium.

Miami offers the advantage of proximity to England’s planned base camp, which would simplify travel and preparation.

Meanwhile, Orlando is believed to be appealing from a commercial standpoint, with a larger stadium capacity likely to generate higher matchday revenue.

A final decision is expected within the next two weeks as organisers weigh up both sporting and financial factors.

FGG says: England fans heading to 2026 World Cup need clarity

On paper, it is just a 2026 World Cup warm-up friendly that will be far from competitive, but the Three Lions supporters will want to be there in their numbers.

Supporters travelling to the US will already be dealing with the huge costs of long-haul flights, accommodation, and tight schedules, so clarity on locations is crucial.

Miami makes the most sense from a football perspective, as there is less travel and more stability for the squad.

But if Orlando is chosen for financial reasons, it highlights the ongoing balance between preparation and commercial opportunity that surrounds modern international football.

Either way, a decision needs to come sooner rather than later.
