Earlier today, Everton welcomed Liverpool to the Hill Dickinson Stadium for the first-ever Merseyside derby at their new stadium.
Following the drama of the last derby at Goodison Park, when James Tarkowski scored a last-minute equaliser in front of the Gwladys Street End, excitement was in the air ahead of kick-off, particularly as an Everton win would have taken the Toffees to within two points of their city rivals.
To mark the occasion, Everton fans unveiled a stunning tifo as the players walked out at the beginning of the match.
Everton fans unveiled tifo at the Merseyside derby
The tifo, which was displayed in the South Stand, was designed by the 1878 supporters group, seemingly to remind Liverpool supporters at the opposite end of the stadium that Everton were the original football club from the city.
The tifo displayed an image of the Hill Dickinson Stadium with a blue Liver bird coming out of the top of it. In the background were images of Goodison Park and the Beatles with blue and white scarves, while the original Everton badge was also featured.
Within the tifo were the words ‘We built this City' and ‘The Originals', reaffirming the point that the Toffees were founded before Liverpool.

Liverpool fans hit back at tifo
Liverpool fans were far from impressed with the tifo, not least because the 1878 group used an edited image of the Beatles.
All four members of the band had actually worn red and white scarves in the photo that was used and edited for the tifo, which Reds fans found ironic given the intended message of the tifo.
It was the away fans who had the last laugh on the day, too, as a 101st-minute header from Virgil van Dijk saw Arne Slot's men walk away from the Hill Dickinson Stadium as the victors.
FGG says: We still have a long way to go
Tifos have become more popular in English football over the last couple of years, but we have a long way to go until we can claim any of them are as impressive as the tifos we consistently see across Europe. This was a decent effort by Everton supporters, but the edited Beatles picture does make it a little awkward and factually incorrect.
