The former midfielder was in attendance as the Toffees marked the occasion in style, leaving a lasting impression on one of their most iconic figures.

Tim Cahill gives honest verdict on Hill Dickinson Stadium after his first-ever visit

Cahill admitted he was “still taking it all in” after attending his first match at the Toffees' new home.

The Everton legend described the atmosphere as “special” in a heartfelt message to supporters on social media, also highlighting the noise, energy and passion inside the ground during a memorable and record-setting 3-0 victory over Chelsea.

Cahill also pointed to the deeper connection between the club and its supporters, praising Everton’s identity and history as key elements that were clearly on display throughout the evening.

The occasion was made even more significant by the presence of several other club legends, including Adrian Heath, Peter Reid, Patrick Nevin and Yakubu.

He also reserved praise for manager David Moyes and his staff, recognising the work being done behind the scenes to build a team that supporters can be proud of.

FGG says: A powerful early endorsement of Everton’s new home

For a player so closely tied to Everton’s identity, this kind of reaction speaks volumes about the stadium’s immediate impact.

Cahill’s comments underline exactly what Everton will have hoped for – that the move to a new ground wouldn’t dilute the club’s spirit, but enhance it instead.

The early signs suggest that it is happening, with a strong atmosphere, connection with fans and buy-in from former players all crucial in making a new stadium feel like home.

If legendary figures like Cahill are already convinced, then it is a strong indication that Everton may have struck the right balance between modern development and preserving their traditions.
