Bournemouth’s maiden European campaign got off to a dream start after travelling to face a more experienced Real Sociedad side in San Sebastian and coming away with a 2-1 victory.
The Cherries are playing in European football for the first time in their 127-year history, sending a strong message to their rivals in the 2026/27 UEFA Europa League.
Justin Kluivert scored Bournemouth's historic first European goal in the 11th minute, converting an Adrien Truffert low cross that was confirmed onside by VAR. Rayan then doubled the lead in the 20th minute, heading home from an Alex Scott lofted pass.
Sociedad fought back in the second half and were rewarded in the 57th minute when Sergio Gomez curled in a strike to make it 2-1. However, Cherries goalkeeper Dorde Petrovic made crucial late saves to withstand heavy pressure and secure the victory for manager Marco Rose.
Next up for Bournemouth is their first-ever European match at the Vitality Stadium, with Austrian side Sturm Graz visiting on Thursday, 15 October.
It will be the first-ever meeting between the two sides. The visitors are seeking their first win of the Europa League season following a goalless draw at home against French side Rennes on the opening day.

Bournemouth tickets
Tickets are available through AFC Bournemouth's official ticketing platform at afcb.co.uk. The on-sale schedule is as follows:
- Monday 21 September — Season ticket holders purchasing match by match (on sale now)
- Wednesday 23 September, 10am — Supporters with 24+ Home Points
- Thursday 24 September, 2pm — Supporters with 12+ Home Points (subject to remaining availability)
- Friday 25 September, 10am — Supporters with 1+ Home Point
Season ticket holders wishing to purchase their usual seat location must do so before 9am on Wednesday 23 September.
Those affected by UEFA allocation requirements should contact the ticket office directly on Monday or Tuesday.
All tickets will be issued digitally, and Supporters must access their tickets via the AFC Bournemouth mobile app — no paper tickets will be issued.
Supporters under the age of 16 must be accompanied by and seated directly with a responsible adult over the age of 18.

Ticket pricing for the Europa League league phase follows Premier League Category A fixture pricing. The following prices apply, excluding a £2 transaction fee per ticket:

Ballots
In addition to the standard sales windows, Bournemouth are running ballots for supporters with 10 or more away points. Approximately 5% of the match-by-match seating allocation will be made available this way.
Eligible supporters can apply for up to two tickets and may link a second supporter to their application — though that supporter must also be eligible and have an established ticketing relationship with the applicant.
Successful ballot applications will be drawn from Monday 28 September. Additional ballots are also available for Junior Cherries, Global Cherries, and Bournemouth University supporters.
Important note on Home Points: Attending Europa League fixtures will not accrue Home Points. Maximum home point holders will not be required to purchase Europa League home fixtures to maintain their status for Premier League fixtures.
Sturm Graz fans
To meet the UEFA 5% requirement, Blocks 24 and 24C at Vitality Stadium have been allocated to visiting Sturm Graz supporters, with segregation lines added in Blocks 23 and 25.
An additional 200 top-category tickets — located between the 18-yard boxes in Block 3 — are being provided for Sturm Graz sponsors and club guests.

Hospitality
Bournemouth are offering a four-game hospitality package covering all four league-phase home fixtures. Limited packages remain across Club 1899, The Orchard, and The Gallery.
