For AFC Bournemouth fans heading to the Vitality Stadium, planning ahead is key to ensuring a smooth matchday experience.

Located in Kings Park, the ground is slightly outside the town centre but remains well connected by road, rail and bus routes, with several parking and public transport options available.

Whether you're travelling locally or arriving from further afield, FootballGroundGuide provides a complete guide to the best ways to get to the home of the Cherries in 2026.

Getting to the Vitality Stadium by Car

Driving to the Vitality Stadium is a popular option, with clear routes from across the UK.

If travelling from the North, then follow the M6, M42 and M40, before joining the M3, M27 and A31 to Bournemouth. If heading from the South East, then use the A27, M27 and A31, then join the A338 to Bournemouth. And from the South West, just follow the A35 to the A338, then take the Kings Park exit.

From the A338, take the exit towards Boscombe and follow the signs to Kings Park Drive – the stadium will be on your left.

Supporters should follow brown road signs (often labelled “Dean Court”) and allow plenty of time, as traffic can build up close to kick-off.

Car Parking at the Vitality Stadium

Parking options are available at the ground, but spaces are limited and fill up quickly.

  • South Stand Car Park: Located behind the stadium, but typically reaches capacity around 75 minutes before kick-off. Payment is available via RingGo, and exit times after matches can take up to 45 minutes

Alternative options include:

  • Avonbourne Academies: Free parking around a 10-minute walk away (limited spaces, opens before kick-off)
  • Sovereign Shopping Centre: Paid parking (£3.50 for four hours or £5 for 24 hours)

Street parking is restricted in many surrounding areas, and enforcement officers are active on matchdays, so be sure to park responsibly.

Getting to the Vitality Stadium by Train

Train travel is a convenient option, especially for fans travelling from further afield.

The main station is Bournemouth Railway Station, which is around a 25-minute walk. From leaving the station, exit south (towards Asda), then walk along Holdenhurst Road and turn into Kings Park Drive to reach the stadium.

Alternatively, arrive slightly closer by going to Pokesdown Railway Station, which is around a 15-minute walk instead. While Pokesdown is closer, it currently does not offer full step-free access.

Getting to the Vitality Stadium by Bus

Buses provide a reliable and accessible way to reach the stadium.

Key services include:

  • M2 (More Bus): Connects from Pokesdown station
  • 22 service: Runs from Bournemouth station to Boscombe bus station

From Boscombe (Ashley Road), the stadium is just a five-minute walk through Kings Park.

Many buses offer step-free access and run regularly, making them a strong option for local travel.

Getting to the Vitality Stadium from the Airport

From Bournemouth Airport

  • Bus: More Bus 737 to Bournemouth station, then train to Pokesdown
  • Taxi: Around 30 minutes, depending on traffic

From Southampton Airport

  • Train: Direct to Pokesdown
  • Taxi: Around 45 minutes, depending on traffic

From Heathrow Airport

  • Train: Various train routes to Bournemouth/Pokesdown
  • Taxi: Around 2 hours, depending on traffic

Public transport is typically the most efficient way to travel from major airports.

FGG Verdict: What is the best way to get to the Vitality Stadium?

For Cherries fans or more general supporters, train and bus travel is the best way to reach the Vitality Stadium.

With Bournemouth and Pokesdown stations within walking distance and reliable bus connections through Kings Park, public transport offers a straightforward and stress-free journey.

Driving is a viable option, but it comes with limited parking and potential delays.
