A popular Leeds United supporters pub near Elland Road is set to close for a revamp in the early stages of 2026.
As reported by Yorkshire Evening Post, The Tommy Wass will be reopened under new management after a period of interior improvements.
The Tommy Wass closed for revamp
The Tommy Wass Pub, located on Dewsbury Road, will close on 5 January 2026 for a £220,000 New Year revamp before reopening under new management.
Star Pubs, owned by Heineken, have stated that a new-and-improved layout, newer decor and better sport facilities will transform and improve the pub for visitors.
The pub's interior is set to be opened up, incorporating a previous function space, to provide additional seating, with a new layout consisting of a main bar area, a snug and a games room.
The new games area will feature a new pool table, darts board and AV system showing Sky and TNT Sports on three large HD TVs, with an additional two new TVs in the main area and one in the snug.
On behalf of Star Pubs, experienced local publican Demi Hurley will take management of the pub on its opening. Demi told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “Pubs are in my family’s blood. So much so that my mum is going to be the assistant manager and my sister will also work behind the bar.”
Jay Weir, Star Pubs Business Development Manager added: “We’re delighted to be upgrading The Tommy Wass, creating somewhere the community can enjoy.”
“The investment will take the pub to a new level whilst retaining its character. An improved layout, upgraded sports facilities, more seating in the garden and a facelift, plus a great schedule of entertainment will broaden The Tommy Wass’s appeal attracting more customers.”

When will The Tommy Wass reopen?
Following its early-January closure for the major revamp, The Tommy Wass is only set to be shut for supporters for just over a month.
With current plans, the pub will be back open on Saturday February 7, when Leeds United host Nottingham Forest at Elland Road.
Speaking on the reopening and the start of her time in charge, Demi Hurley added: “I am really looking forward to moving to Beeston and getting to know neighbours and the pub’s regulars and becoming part of the community. I can’t wait to open the doors in February and show off the new look pub to regulars and welcome new faces.”
FGG says: Welcome improvement for Leeds fans
The improvements to The Tommy Wass represent an exciting update for locals and supporters of Yorkshire's only current Premier League side.
Redevelopment plans show something for all fans with plenty of access to televised football in a Leeds United themed setting.
With over 35,000 fans descending on Elland Road for each home game, and with potential expansions floated, venues like the new-and-improved Tommy Wass are sure to thrive and provide a great atmosphere for supporters.
