On Sunday afternoon, Leeds United lost the Championship Play-Off final to Southampton on a brutal afternoon at Wembley. The Whites had the better of the chances on the day and came close a couple of times through Daniel James but their fans were ultimately sent home feeling sorry for themselves after yet another play-off failure.
Leeds will now have to wait at least 12 months to re-establish themselves as a Premier League club and their fans now have a long summer to endure before they can begin their assault on promotion once again.
Leeds fans mocked on the radio
In the meantime, they are going to have to eat plenty of humble pie as opposition fans queue up to rub their noses in it. The ribbing has already begun as last night, a football fan rang up a national radio station to aim a public dig at Leeds and their fanbase.
The radio station was taking song requests and one came in from a fan claiming they were seeking a special song for a person named ‘Ellen Droad'. The song that was requested – Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division.
The tune has been used by opposition fans to mock Leeds fans for some time now with the words being changed to ‘Leed are falling apart again' in reference to the club's tendency to collapse from strong positions.
Some bloke calling up Absolute Radio and requested a song for someone called ‘Ellen Droad’ and asking for this to be played. In absolute hysterics, have a listen… simply superb banter and the presenter not having a clue made it so much funnier 🤣👏

Fans respond to radio request
The radio request went down very well with the football community on social media with many taking great pleasure from the recording. One fan posted: “Now that is how you end a season on a high note. Pettiness we can all get behind.”
Another fan said on X: “Whoever did this deserves the world. Superb.” A third added: “That's won the internet today!”
The response to the video perhaps shows that Leeds United truly are one of the most hated clubs in England, something that their fans often take great pride in.
