Leeds United have launched an abseiling experience this summer ahead of their stadium's redevelopment.

Daniel Farke's side returned to the top table of English football during the 2025-26 campaign following a title-winning term in the Championship during 2024-25.

A lot of the pre-season predictions suggested a relegation dogfight for Leeds, however, they have managed to enjoy a relatively stress-free return to the Premier League.

In the end, the Elland Road club finished in 14th position in the top-flight standings, eight points clear of West Ham United, who will be plying their trade in the second tier next season.

The West Yorkshire club have lofty ambitions off the pitch, looking to redevelop the West Stand at their ground to bring the capacity up to around 53,000.

Leeds launch summer abseil opportunity at Elland Road

On Thursday (28 May), Leeds announced a unique opportunity on their official website, with fundraising for the local community at the heart of the decision.

On Saturday, June 20, supporters of the Whites and neutrals alike will have the chance to abseil down the West Stand at Elland Road before it begins its transformation over the coming years.

The event has been set up to raise money for the Leeds United Foundation, which looks to use the power of football to improve the lives of people in the area and beyond with different initiatives.

Pricing and potential prizes

Supporters can outright buy the abseiling experience at Elland Road for £100, or they can pay a £25 registration fee and fundraise £100 for the Leeds United Foundation themselves.

The person who raises the most money for the charity is in line to receive a Leeds home shirt signed by the whole of Farke's relegation-avoiding squad.

On top of that, the runner-up in the fundraising ranks will earn tickets to watch the Whites at Elland Road during the 2026-27 campaign.

With the event taking place a day before Father's Day in the UK, there is certainly set to be plenty of interest in taking part.

FGG says: Bonus points for creativity

It appears as if we are exiting the era of bog-standard stadium tours, with the majority of loyal supporters already accustomed to this type of experience.

The creativity of combining people's passion for Leeds and desire for thrill has led to a surreal opportunity at Elland Road this summer.

Clubs across England are continually pushing the boat out as they seek to improve fans' experience, as well improve the communities that they serve.
