Leeds United parade 2025: All the key details ahead of promotion celebration

Following Burnley's win over Sheffield United on Monday, 21 April, Leeds United were promoted to the Premier League after a two-year hiatus in the Championship.

While promotion was the expectation this season after losing the play-off final last season, Daniel Farke and his squad still deserve credit, as getting out of England's second tier is never an easy task, particularly if you don't manage to do it in the season immediately after relegation.

To mark the achievement, Leeds have announced a promotion parade through Leeds after the end of the season. For all the key information, including dates, times and route, check out our guide below.

Leeds United promotion parade: Key information

When is the Leeds United parade?

The Leeds United parade will take place two days after the final Championship game of the season on Monday, 5 May. While it is customary to conduct such a celebration the day after the end of the season, like Liverpool are doing for their title parade, Leeds have decided to wait until the Monday due to it being a bank holiday in the United Kingdom.

The nature of a bank holiday means that the majority of fans won't be working, which should help to maximise the number of fans in attendance.

What time does the Leeds parade start?

The Leeds United parade will start at approximately 13:00 in Leeds city centre and is expected to last between 60 and 90 minutes. There isn't a focal point of the celebration, so fans are being urged to line the entire route (more on that shortly) for their best chance of getting as close as possible to the bus.

Throughout the parade, Daniel Farke and his players will speak and sing with fans to create a carnival-like atmosphere throughout the city.

The parade is expected to be heavily attended, not least because the club were unable to celebrate properly with fans the last time they achieved promotion in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic. Therefore, it is advised that Leeds fans arrive in the city well before the 13:00 start time.

What is the parade route?

According to the official Leeds United website, the parade will ‘take in the full length of the Headrow, as well as City Square, Boar Lane, New Market Street and parts of Wellington Street and Vicar Lane.

If you are unable to attend, the club will be live streaming the proceedings on LUTV, allowing fans at home to enjoy the event too.

Once the parade is over, the party is set to continue in an unofficial capacity with supporters keen to savour every moment.

Leeds City Council send warning to supporters

Ahead of the parade, Leeds City Council have sent a message to Leeds fans who are planning on attending the celebrations on bank holiday Monday.

Fans have been told not to engage in any behaviour that could put themselves or other supporters in danger, such as climbing buildings, lampposts or bus shelters.

Further words of advice were offered in the full council statement. It read:

“We would also encourage anyone coming into the city centre on Monday to plan their journey carefully and to consider, where possible, using public transport.

“Please remember that, as there is no single focal point for the event, fans can expect the same exciting experience wherever they position themselves.

“By lining as much of the route as possible, supporters will create a city centre-wide carnival atmosphere and give Daniel Farke and his players the reception they deserve.”
