Leeds warn fans of key Elland Road transport change for Brentford Premier League match

Leeds United have warned supporters of a significant change to the usual matchday transport arrangements ahead of Sunday's Premier League meeting with Brentford at Elland Road.

Daniel Farke's side welcome the Bees to West Yorkshire on Sunday, August 30, with kick-off scheduled for 2pm, but fans travelling to the stadium have been told that the normal shuttle bus service will operate from a different location.

The temporary change has been caused by Leeds Festival, which is taking place over the same weekend and will use the coach space on Sovereign Street that normally serves as the departure point for Leeds United's matchday shuttle.

Elland Road shuttle bus moved for Brentford game

Leeds have confirmed that the usual shuttle service from Sovereign Street will move to Meadow Lane for Sunday's fixture.

The R2 service will operate from the Southbank A and B stops on Meadow Lane, across the river from the regular Sovereign Street location. The club has worked with Leeds City Council to provide signage directing supporters towards the new departure point.

Fans travelling from Leeds railway station and the city centre are being encouraged to allow extra time because of the change.

The easiest route from Sovereign Street to the temporary departure point is via the David Oluwale Bridge, which provides a pedestrian crossing over the River Aire and leads supporters directly towards Meadow Lane.

The temporary arrangement applies only to the Brentford fixture, with the normal shuttle service expected to return when Newcastle United visit Elland Road on September 14.

The R2 service will begin operating from the temporary location from 11.30am, ahead of the 2pm kick-off.

Leeds issue parking warning to supporters

The shuttle change is not the only transport alteration supporters need to be aware of this season. Leeds have introduced a new matchday parking system for the 2026-27 campaign, with supporters now required to book parking in advance for home fixtures.

There is no longer an option to pay on the day at council car parks around Elland Road, and supporters arriving without a pre-booked space will be turned away.

Parking costs £13 per car or motorcycle, including the £1 booking fee, while digital parking passes must be downloaded to Apple Wallet or Google Pay before arriving. Screenshots and email confirmations will not be accepted.

The club is also operating its Park & Ride service from Temple Green and Stourton in partnership with Hunters Coaches. Tickets must be purchased before matchday, with prices set at £7 per person or £21.50 per car for four people. The service begins two-and-a-half hours before kick-off.

With the matchday shuttle also affected by the festival, Leeds are urging supporters to plan their journeys carefully and arrive early.

The temporary shuttle change is relatively minor, but it highlights the importance of transport planning as Leeds continue to develop Elland Road and prepare for larger crowds in the future.

For Sunday's fixture, supporters using public transport should make sure they head towards Meadow Lane rather than Sovereign Street for the R2 shuttle. With Leeds Festival also taking place, allowing extra time could make the difference between a relaxed journey and a frantic arrival at Elland Road.

The club and Leeds City Council have stressed that normal shuttle arrangements will resume after the Brentford match.
