Middlesbrough supporters returning to the Riverside Stadium next season will notice a small but significant change outside the club's home.
The update is part of the club's wider rebrand following the unveiling of its new crest earlier this year.
Riverside Stadium adds new Middlesbrough crest to exterior
The Championship side have completed the installation of their new club crest on the exterior of the Riverside Stadium ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
The two large badges positioned either side of the stadium's main entrance have been replaced with the redesigned emblem, which was officially unveiled earlier this year following an extensive consultation process involving thousands of supporters.
The club began using the new crest across its digital platforms at the start of June, with further updates to signage and branding at both the Riverside Stadium and Rockliffe Park planned throughout the summer.
The red version of the new crest has now been installed outside the stadium and was officially implemented from June 2026.
For the upcoming campaign, however, Middlesbrough will use a special gold edition featuring a 150th anniversary mark to celebrate the club's founding in 1876.
Designed by lifelong Boro supporter Andy Patterson, the crest also incorporates subtle Teesside-inspired details, including the River Tees and Roseberry Topping within the artwork.
FGG says: Riverside Stadium update continues Boro's new club identity
Replacing the stadium's exterior crests may seem like a relatively minor change, but it is another visible step in Middlesbrough's wider rebrand.
With the new badge having been shaped by supporter feedback, it makes sense for the club to gradually introduce it across the Riverside and other facilities.
As more of these updates appear over the coming months, the refreshed identity should begin to feel like a natural part of the club while also marking the build-up to its 150th anniversary celebrations.
