On Sunday, 30 November, Man Utd faced Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in a match that neither side wanted to play at midday.
For the hosts, the early kick-off meant that they had barely 48 hours to prepare following their Europa Conference League clash on Thursday night. Meanwhile, Manchester United fans were left with no way of getting from Manchester to Selhurst Park on public transport in time for kick-off.
In the end, the Man Utd fans who did make the trip to South London were rewarded with a victory on the road, and they also went home with a brand new chant to add to their songbook.
New Man Utd chant goes viral at Selhurst Park
Following United's win in London, for a reason not known to anyone at this point, the DJ at Selhurst Park decided to blast ‘One More Time' by Daft Punk through the speakers.
Typically, this is the type of song that you would expect to hear following a home victory, not one where the visitors had come from behind to take all three points. Perhaps the DJ at Selhurst Park is a secret Man Utd fan?
Regardless, the away end took full advantage of the song by singing along to it at full voice as their players approached the away end to celebrate with them. The travelling Red Army then quickly created their own version of the chant in celebration of the man who levelled the match up for their team in the second half.
The lyrics are as follows:
One more time, we're gonna celebrate,
Oh yeah, alright,
With Joshua Zirkzee

The football community praises Man Utd's away fans
Countless football fans online were quick to praise the travelling Man Utd fans for the chant. One Spurs fan posted on X: ‘They’re the best away fans consistently at our ground. Make a racket every time win, lose, or draw”
A Crystal Palace fan posted: ‘United always have loudest away end (at Selhurst Park) every season', while a Huddersfield fan said: ‘I still can't get over how good they were when they came to our place last season for the U21s, they sang 30 different chants in one half'.
FGG says: Gifted on a plate
Manchester United have the biggest songbook in English football, and although their away ends have dropped below previous standards since COVID, they were never going to pass up this opportunity handed to them by the Crystal Palace DJ.
