Newcastle United have received positive news in their plans to make major improvements at St James' Park.
As reported by Chronicle Live, the club have received the green light to go ahead with changes to be made on the completion of the 2025-26 season.
PIF sanction major St James' Park improvements
According to Chronicle Live, Newcastle United owners, the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF), have sanctioned plans for a facelift at St James' Park over the summer.
The ownership group are set to invest significant sums to give the home stadium a slick new look for the beginning of the 2026-27 term.
CEO David Hopkinson has reportedly assured supporters that the historic ground, which last received major updates in 2000, is set for eye-catching improvements with fans set to see a noticeable difference from the beginning of the term in August.
Changes meant to improve fan experience within the ground are set to include the introduction of TVs on the concourses, while an increase in timers around the ground is also on the cards with supporters often unable to see a limited number of timers currently on show around the stands.

Will facelift be followed by stadium expansion?
Since early on in the PIF's ownership of Newcastle United, plans have reportedly been discussed regarding an expansion of St James' Park or a move to a new site in order to build a larger stadium to keep pace with rivals at the top end of the Premier League.
Such plans have since reportedly faced delays, though, with the club hierarchy said to have put such plans on the back burner, instead placing focus on an improved training ground and hiring a new Chief Executive and Sporting Director.
Going on to discus the postponed plans, Magpies manager Eddie Howe added to the uncertainty around any stadium timeline, saying: “Fundamentally, looking at the club with a broader view, the training ground, the stadium, that part of the club is in limbo at the moment”
“I know there is a 99.9% chance that I am not going to see either [the new stadium or academy] in my position. But I’m still passionate about making sure it is there for the future generations of Newcastle, whether that’s supporters or players.”
FGG says: Long-awaited good news for Magpies
Amid growing doubts about any future in expansion plans of St James' Park, tangible improvements to their current home is a positive for Newcastle United supporters.
The likely changes outlined are ones that will improve fan experience first and foremost, and in the absence of larger developments at least in the short term, they do show the ownership's commitment to their home nonetheless.
