Nottingham Forest have submitted plans to transform a long-vacant site near the City Ground as part of their wider stadium redevelopment.

The proposals would see the club shop relocated to a new purpose-built facility, freeing up space around the expanded stadium.

Forest unveil proposal to move club shop during City Ground expansion

Forest have submitted plans for a new club shop on the corner of Radcliffe Road and Pavilion Road in West Bridgford.

A petrol station previously occupied the site, but has since become overgrown and unused. The new shop would replace the existing Pavilion Road store, which will eventually be demolished to make way for the expanded City Ground.

Forest's wider plans would initially increase the stadium's capacity to around 45,000, with the longer-term vision targeting 52,500 seats.

The new shop would be around 80 metres from the stadium and feature retail space across two floors, alongside a food and drink kiosk. It would create 14 full-time and 50 part-time jobs.

Forest's planners said the development would provide an “enhanced and modernised” experience for supporters while helping regenerate a prominent but neglected site.

The store would generally open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sundays, with extended hours on matchdays.

The club said several previous attempts had been made to redevelop the site, but none had been delivered.

Rushcliffe Borough Council will consider the latest application at a later date.

FGG says: A sensible move as Forest plan to improve City Ground

This is a practical piece of the wider City Ground redevelopment rather than a headline-grabbing project in its own right.

Moving the shop only 80 metres means supporters should barely notice the difference, while Forest can make better use of land that has sat derelict for years.

It also ensures the Tricky Trees have a modern retail facility ready to serve supporters as the City Ground itself undergoes its transformation.
