A popular Old Trafford pub has reopened following a £400,000 makeover, transforming it into a new sports-focused venue ahead of the 2026-27 season.

The Tollgate, located opposite the Trafford Bar Metrolink station and around 10 minutes from Manchester United's stadium, has been revamped under Marston's Grandstand concept.

The Tollgate receives major revamp ahead of new season

The pub was closed for almost a month while the £400,000 transformation was carried out, with the venue now designed to offer supporters a more immersive matchday experience.

The revamped pub features multiple HD screens, including a large main screen, alongside an upgraded sound system and flexible tiered seating designed to give customers a clear view of live sport.

Its links to the local area have also been strengthened, with Manchester United memorabilia added throughout the venue.

The Tollgate is also seeking additional photographs and memorabilia to further decorate the pub.

The outdoor area has received an upgrade of its own, with new television screens and a large ‘TV box' giving customers a preview of the sports-focused experience inside.

A hand-painted mural by Manchester artist Pic One is also planned as part of the revamp, with the artwork set to reflect Manchester's culture.

The venue will show a wide range of sporting events rather than focusing solely on Manchester United, with football, rugby, cricket, tennis, Formula 1, darts and horse racing all set to feature.

Alongside the screens, customers can make use of regulation dart boards and upgraded pool tables.

The food menu includes matchday favourites such as chicken wings, nachos and burgers, while the drinks offering has also been refreshed while all draught beer is available in two-pint cups.

The Tollgate's location is likely to make it particularly popular with United supporters, sitting opposite Trafford Bar tram stop and within walking distance of Old Trafford

FGG says: The Tollgate could become a new matchday favourite

The £400,000 makeover gives Manchester United fans a new matchday option within easy reach of Old Trafford.

With upgraded facilities, multiple screens and a sports-focused atmosphere, the Tollgate could quickly become a popular pre- and post-match destination.
