As the biggest club stadium in the country, the area around Old Trafford is visited by 70,000+ people every time Man Utd play a home match. As a result, there is a need in the area for places to keep fans entertained pre-match.
At the beginning of the 2025/26 season, the club announced that they were going to be trialling a pop-up pub at the back of the Stretford End, but prior to this, it was down entirely to local establishments to feed and water supporters in the build-up to kick-off.
There are plenty of pubs in the surrounding area that are worth a visit on matchday, including those mentioned in our guide below.

Pubs near Old Trafford: Where to drink close to the stadium
The following pubs are all within one mile of Old Trafford Stadium.
The Tollgate
The Tollgate is in the perfect spot if you are getting the Metrolink to match. The pub is situated directly next door to Trafford Bar station which is a 0.9 mile walk away from the stadium. The Tollgate has frequently been the starting point of recent protest marches against the Glazers.
Postcode – Old Trafford, Manchester, Greater Manchester, M16 0LN
The Trafford
The Trafford is the closest traditional pub to the stadium, meaning it is also very quick to fill up on matchdays. When the weather is nice, they open up the garden which helps to ease the congestion inside the bar but you are going to want to arrive early if you want to get served quickly.
Postcode – 699 Chester Rd, Old Trafford, Stretford, Manchester M16 0GW
The Bishop Blaize
Historically, the Bishops Blaize is the pub where the club's most passionate supporters have visited before a match. While that has arguably been watered down in recent seasons due to tourism, the pub is still worth a visit if you want a sing-song before the match.
Postcode – 708 Chester Rd, Old Trafford, Stretford, Manchester M32 0SF
The Quadrant
The Quadrant is a little further away from the other pubs on this list but is still just one mile away from the ground. As it is a little ‘out of the way' it is usually an excellent option if you want to get served quickly and don't like standing up. It has a large indoor area and a reasonably sized outdoor area.
Postcode – 67 Great Stone Rd., Old Trafford, Stretford, Manchester M32 8GR
Cafe Football
Cafe Football is the closest place to the stadium to get a drink before the match but it isn't a ‘pub' in the traditional sense. It is housed inside Gary Neville's Hotel Football and the atmosphere inside here is a lot more manufactured and sophisticated compared to some of the other pubs on this list. Still, in terms of proximity, this is the best option.

Kargo MKT
This food court/bar can just about qualify as a pub near Old Trafford as it is located within a 20-minute walk of the stadium. Located over the river at Salford Quays, this is the place to go on a sunny day, due to its large outdoor beer garden and huge bar. It's relatively quick to get served in here, and the food on offer caters for everyone, even if it is a little pricy.
Postcode – Unit 32, Quays, Quayside Media City, Kargo MKT, Central Bay, Salford M50 3AG
Seven Bro7ers
The Seven Bro7ers outdoor pop-up bar has been in operation for around three years now, and is popular with supporters come rain or shine. Located literally in the shadows of Old Trafford, the bar serves Easy IPA and Pilsner and now also has a small indoor space with a TV connected to MUTV for fans wanting to watch the pre-match build-up.
Postcode – Unit 1, Wharfside, Trafford Wharf Rd, Trafford Park, Stretford, Manchester M17 1EX
